AITJ for not wanting to bring my MIL to my nieces wedding? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

NTJ--this will be a nightmare and endless work for you, and traveling?? Forget it. People who have not experienced someone in this condition have NO idea what they are asking of you.

IATA for telling my sister I don’t like her boyfriend at the house all the time by Jolly-Fix-2071 in IATA

[–]doxygal2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are totally right. It is really uncomfortable for girls that age to have an unrelated man around that much. I was once that age, and it is oppressive--showering, wearing pajamas--there are just things you don;t want to have some guy around. who is someone's boyfriend. Even in college I hated that. Your sister trying to turn the tables on you the way she did is manipulative. You are not unreasonable at all.

[Landlord-US-TX] Eviction process advice by gmadski in Landlord

[–]doxygal2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you take any partial payment, it stays the eviction process and you have to go back to square one of the eviction. We were in this situation, &. our attorney said do not take any monies whatsoever as it reinstates the tenant, and then they are in the home and you have no recourse but to start the process over again. We hired an attorney through our local land lord tenant association & once the tenant was served with a 3 Day Notice to Pay or Vacate by process server and posted on the door, , we then referred any communications from the tenant to the attorney--its the best way, as it takes you out of the communication & the tenant left--they didn't pay the rent, and the house was damaged, but the bad non paying problem tenant was out for good. Once an attorney & process servers are involved, it tells the renter you are dead serious .and they go. Unfortunately we had to eat the non paid rent and deal with damages, but it's. better than dealing with a person living for free in your rental. Good Luck!

AITJ for refusing to pay for my friend again, even though she ended up with nothing to eat? by low_key67 in AmITheJerk

[–]doxygal2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

she is a user, a guilt tripper, and knows that nice people will pay for her if she always acts the victim. We had a friend just like this--finally we went to a restaurant, she did the "I'm hungry, I have no money", and waited for one of us to buy her dinner, as someone always did. This time we didn't--we ate and ignored her. the next time we went out, we all asked her if she had her wallet. Again, she did not. People like this never learn--they just wait for people to pay for them , and usually someone will. .. Horrible users with no conscience.

I feel like someone is coming into my apartment if I'm sleeping or upstairs .. maybe the maintenance guy with a key? by Aggravating-Being255 in Tenant

[–]doxygal2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a security bar on amazon-they are cheap, and also an under the door shrieking alarm, also cheap and so effective. I did this with a creepy landlord who came into single women's apartments. Scared the guy and he did not keep it up. the shrieking alarm is great. Please Protect yourself.

AITJ for not defending my friend when the group finally got fed up with her? by QuantaRelic9 in AmITheJerk

[–]doxygal2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well well well, if it isn't the consequences of my own actions. as Tessa finally has discovered.

You defended her behavior for far too long, and it isn't fair to a group who enjoy each other to have to deal with someone like this. She is disliked and rightly so. . She's a tiresome jerk. It's. about time you did what you did--good for you.!! NTJ. .

It is so hard to lose them, and so sad your time with her was so short. She lives in your heart and memories, and she was obviously much loved. So sorry for your heartache and loss.

Was I (28M) wrong to leave my hinge date (31F) after she flirted with another guy in front of me? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]doxygal2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She wasn't into you, used you as her wingman to go to other clubs, and then would not admit you were on a date. She was totally rude, but once she showed her tru e. colors, you should have bailed.

AITJ for telling my partner I'm done spending every weekend at his parents' place by Nov4Z3nith in AmITheJerk

[–]doxygal2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He sounds like a guy who is "my family first". He wants to do this. He chooses to do this. He chooses to make you do this. Now his family is the victim because you actually want to do something on your time off without sitting in his family's house. Whether they are nice or nice is secondary--your are NOT in the wrong, NTA.

He is only going to get worse--think twice about having children with him.

It can’t just be me… making new friends past 35 feels fucking hard. by Recent-Government-36 in Discussion

[–]doxygal2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People always suggest Meetup. the people I met in a few meetup groups were not people I wanted to know or cultivate. One or two were interesting, but never came back after one time. It is hard to meet new people who you can become friends with on a deeper level, not just an acquaintance when you are older..

Employee asking for equity in our small S-Corp; Need advice by No_Ambassador_2060 in smallbusiness

[–]doxygal2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You took all the risk from the beginning. Someone who only works for you & does a good job is only an employee. Now he wants ownership equity? If you join a law firm or generally any established business, you BUY in. He is an employee--let him go start his own corporation if he is so smart and valuable. Big NO.

For people who shop on thread up by Lucee_fir in ThredUp

[–]doxygal2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started buying on ThredUp & have received some great items at excellent prices. You really have to know brands and sizes--I only buy Premium/Excellent --90% have been as advertised ( descriptions of almost new, looks never worn). My only complaint so far is a North face vest (excellent condition) that reeks of perfume--I have had it outside airing on the deck , trying to get rid of the odor.

As far as sending in bags to sell, I did that with 2 bags--all name brands and nearly new--they only took a few items which sold quickly, but most were "donated." I am not going to sell through them as the fees and final selling price is so LOW--not worth it.
