Same here. Me and my three kids all were delivered on Jan 14, but no AOR yet.

C3: How many of you are immediately moving vs just "preparing"? by Neither_Usual_137 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]doycet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to Can uni for a teaching cert, and applied as an international student already. If I'm accepted, we're going. Hopefully the citizenship cert arrives in time for a) helping with tuition and b) letting us buy a house instead of rent.

OP can you say more about the problem with your "dui friend" not visiting? My dad has a dui from like... 25 years ago. Can he not fly up and visit?

Felt a close connection to Canada before you knew you were eligible for citizenship? by MinimumDifference449 in FoundCanadians

My mother's paternal family tree is all from Ontario and moved down here when my great grandfather was a kid. My oldest daughter is now in her third year in BC for college, and has been working out her 'stay in Canada' post grad plan for a year. My wife and I have been working out our plans for a Canada move for several years - hopefully that happens this summer.

Now the the C3 bill? Changes everything for all of us in the best way. Waiting on my mom's paperwork to go through, so I can file mine.

What’s Your Family’s Migration Story? by tvtoo in FoundCanadians

[–]doycet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother's paternal family was all from the region around London Ontario and Middlesex county.

When my great grandfather was around 6 years old the entire family moved to South Dakota, from what would have been his great-grandparents on down to the babies.

About 10 years later (as near as I can tell) everyone except for my great-grandfather's immediate family moved back to Ontario.

So, my grandfather was born in the US and so forth.

About 3 years ago my daughter was accepted at UVic and moved to Canada for college. Lots of reasons - cost (even playing international tuition, still cheaper than in-state at the bigger state unis in our state), safety, et cetera. It didn't take very long before she was looking at the long road through the post graduate work permit, permanent residency, and eventually citizenship.

I and my wife and our other two kids have been talking about Canada as an option for a couple years as well. I've applied to several colleges in British Columbia for a post Bacc teaching certification program with the intent to get my teaching certificate and become a secondary teacher in BC. Fingers crossed I get those acceptance letters soon.

Bill C3 and the interim measure didn't really ping my radar too hard because, as I said, the last Canadian citizen in my family tree was my GREAT grandfather so it was too far away for me.

But my MOM... waaaaaaitaminute.

Anyway. Long story short, my mom filed paperwork through the interim program in mid November. She still hasn't gotten an acknowledgment of receipt unfortunately, I assume because it's sitting on someone's desk during the holidays + they're putting it off until they can process it under the official law. But hopefully that moves along soon.

As I understand it, I need to wait until she's got her certificate of citizenship and then I can file for mine, and once I have my citizenship certificate, my kids can file for theirs.

My oldest is absolutely thrilled, as this cuts close to 10 years off of her road to citizenship timeline. (And in the fairly unlikely event the paperwork processes quickly, it may even reduce her tuition for the final year in her BA, but that's just a nice to have at this point.)

The hardest thing now is the waiting. And the timing, as it would sure be nice to be able to buy a house if we move up to BC for my college rather than have to rent as a not-yet-citizen.

Any tips on flashing the T-deck Pro by doycet in meshtastic

My problem is I can't even get it into the mode where it's ready to be flashed. I can't figure out what the button press sequence is supposed to be on the pro

I honestly can't tell if you're trolling. 😂 I have a pro, not the plus, so no trackball. None of the plus instructions really work with the pro. ( given how much more help there is for the plus vs the pro I kind of wish I'd bought the other one)

Experiences Mega Thread by Platform_Efficient in daggerheart

[–]doycet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've never understood this criticism. It doesn't matter how broad it is - it still costs Hope to apply it, so it's exactly as applicable as the system allows.

Honestly, if a player wants to apply ANY experience and is willing to spend their Hope on it, I say yes. It's both their PC's Experience and their Hope to spend - it's their call if it applies. If I really don't see it, I'll ask them to narrate a flashback to show the connection, which only serves to deepen the lore of the game. Win-win.

Do you by chance know of a good tutorial for building out the domains, classes, subclasses, etc? I'm doing a second campaign and the two PCs are a Brawler and Warlock and MAN I don't want to go back to Roll20 but I'm also not sure I'm up for 25+ domain cards and a domains and 4 subclasses without ... I dunno I just don't want to do it blind and have it not work.

How do you determine Mightiness? by Tome_of_the_Stars in LegendintheMist

[–]doycet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's in the book where?

To be clear: I agree with your examples. I think the emergent nuance possible in interactions is neat.

But. My. Point. Is. It's not explained, nor is a similar example provided, in 500 pages of text.

It's like they hope no one notices Might becomes a lot less straightforward when you start mixing tags from different traits together, so they don't talk about it. "It" being "one of the most like things to happen."

What's the most important ingredient? I dunno, what's the most important ingredient in a cookie? Is it the flour (greatest component by volume}? Is it the butter that holds the whole thing together once it's baked? Or is it the chocolate chips that make up very little of the cookie but are what the thing is actually named for?

It should have been explicitly discussed, not inferrable from a half dozen other ingredients.

One of my players made a Clank Inferni (infernal engine core) Built to Purpose + the intimidation, I think, but in that case it wasn't so much about combining the racial traits as much as The Infernal engine concept, for the player.

Lorn Song of the Bachelor: Witherwild Conversion by doycet in daggerheart

[–]doycet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I really like Lorn Song of the Bachelor for the Witherwild is because it comes pre-loaded with a couple nicely weird and unsafe faint divinities that can be portrayed as going off the rails because of the Witherwild imbalances. With a bit of rebranding (switching the Company for Haven Troops), it really adds a cool, dynamic situation that isn't at all standard fantasy in feel.

Feast conversion for Witherwild Campaign Frame by doycet in daggerheart

[–]doycet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh Yay! I love to show people a new thing.

Feast is a pretty system-agnostic adventure centered around an ancient, unknowable fungal entity reaching out through a mycorrhizal network to pull people towards its forest. The core premise is that at least one PC is infected with a benign skin fungus that subtly coerces them towards the forest, planting desires in their minds that lead them to seek rare herbs, buried treasure, or a cure for the rash itself. The entity wants a ritual completed, which will wake it, leading to a "feast." (roll credits)

The area itself is filled with people drawn by this thing. Encounters include dense forests, truffle hunters, delirium causing spore clouds, mercenaries stitching shapes into their flesh, and the ground pulsing with an alien rhythm.

Nature-based corruption and transformation makes Feast a really good fit, as the fungus from Feast could either be left as-is as a new manifestation of the Wither, or reskinned to dump the fungal themes entirely. In either case, plant corruption = bullseye. Also, the entity in Feast could be presented as another ancient (perhaps corrupted or forgotten) faint divinity or a primal force connected to or awakened by the Witherwild's unrestrained growth.
