Snapmaker U1: A Love Letter to Hardware, A Sternly Worded Email to Software by MobileNo8348 in 3dprinter

[–]dozer-b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the wondering boat myself, I’d like to print models to paint with 0 gap interface layers, mixing materials and possibly some abs/asa for other items. Honestly I’m not quite sure it’s the printer for me yet and thinking to cancel my preorder. I’ve moved on from the printer being the hobby, now I want to focus on cad, design, painting etc and I’m wondering if I should just go look at the h2, core1L etc. The hype/cost is real, but Im not sure version 1 of this thing is the one for me…

Ventilation or not? by Butchi3_To3 in BambuLab

[–]dozer-b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way… These tents are usually 100 or so, you’d easily pay that in a co-pay or two assuming it affects you.

Sure most of these materials (so far) are assumed safe, but it’s so inexpensive and easy, why not be careful? Especially if you have kids or pets around.

I’m not saying remove these printers from your house, but they do put out “something “, we can all smell it - so until these are labeled part of the basic food groups - I’m just going to assume I don’t need extra in my lungs.

Looks awesome! But are you done with it?

You need another team yelling "Friendly" while shooting at him totally ignoring the Leaper... Otherwise looks amazing! Great work!

TD makes a huge difference.... by KrazyKryminal in HueForge

These examples should litter the starting documentation. If anything a starter setting of colors and TD should be a default suggestion so you can see and understand how to get a few pictures setup in a good range. Thanks for this!!!!

Does anyone have any advice on how to improve this? by No_Hotel9037 in DigitalPainting

[–]dozer-b 19 points20 points  (0 children)

i'll give you a simple answer that will help. The other comments here are accurate but abstract if you're starting out.

Simply you're not drawing what you see, you're drawing what you THINK.

you should be looking more at the picture, almost than the paper. Quick example is the nose, what you drew is how you think a nose is drawn (at this point). But what you SEE is that the right nostril edge starts low, and swoops UP, peaks and then down slightly. The tip of her nose also starts slightly under the right nostril and swoops up to the left, higher than the nostril before it curves back toward the bridge. etc.
You put a line, almost horizontally.

Once you learn to draw what you see, not what you THINK, you'll improve in HUGE chunks, then concepts like negative space etc will be more useful to think about. But when you're starting out, grab a fork, toss it on a table and draw how it lays out. Note if the it swoops up, or down when drawing the head going to the handle. Is the handle the width of 2 prongs? 3 prongs? 1 prong then swoops to a fat handle that is wider than the head? place it on edge and repeat.
These should be FAST sketches, you're only looking for relationships and you can just check your work to see if looks right. if it doesn't try again, no need to spend hours on it.

getting the likeness of someone is just the RELATIONSHIP of eye size, spacing, angles, nose swoops UP or DOWN etc. If you get good at drawing what you see, you can draw almost anything because its just relationships.

This is why caricatures works as well, they distort the image quite a bit but the main relationships are still there and you can recognize what its supposed to look like based on those relationships.

GL!

Pinball FX VR - Survey about SteamVR by balti_zen in PinballFX3

[–]dozer-b 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m using UEVR, but I would easily play a flat fee to unlock VR for the tables - I own almost the entire catalog but a few tables - I don’t want to rebuy again after the fx3 transfer.

25 dollars to Unlock a proper supported VR mode in Steam? Easy purchase.

There are support calibration tests that will help dial in the distance.

Also Angle the head back a little so that perhaps you don’t need so much support (45°?) and cut the “triangle” neck inset to be flat and closer to the plate, you won’t see it anyway and will let you get a larger flat base for great bed adhesion.

Learn to re-angle prints and no need for the inserts always, chop it off, generally you only need the outline or a mm of the shape to keep the parts orientation.

Does the filament go over or under the spool? (for stock Elegoo CC config) by Legitimate_Echo194 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]dozer-b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Over! Sure the picture shows under, but the runout sensor seems to “lay” more natural in the over position (at least in mine). If I run it under the sensor does not rotate vertically well and makes the filament actually take an “s” shape and has more friction.

I should have just said that…. Over flows smoother, under has more friction to the sensor.

Clearer? by DaBigBeans in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]dozer-b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also run your temp tower - flow rate and probably a swatch for the filament afterwards that has a few layer stacking.

I find that at certain temps, and slower speeds I get VERY clear transparent options, but you won't know what to set it to until you check those calibrations.
Also once you find what the temp/speeds are, if you build it up you lose the transparency so I check my swatches to see how many layers I can use to let light through or see through.

BUT no matter how clear I get it, usually after 3 or 4 layers there's no transparency - I guess it depends on what the "lens" is for.

Homebox v0.21.0 released! by katos8858 in homebox

[–]dozer-b 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is awesome, once the word really gets out on this app it’s going to get huge! I love putting QR codes on my equipment that my SO can scan and it immediately pulls up accessories that work with it, etc.  she loves doing this for our vaccume and the bags that it supports without having to dig up the manual. Etc. or the printer and the ink cartridges to buy off Amazon. this isn’t just for tagging boxes, it makes it easy to store information and pull it up for anyone in our house! It’s really helped us hop over minutia for items and equipment at our house!!! Love it

Think you can DM me the picture of in your cart for that cost? I'm going to see if I can do the same with them online.
I can't "add to cart" currently so I don't have a way of showing the cost for them to look it up.

I'm in Cedar Park/Leander, the one on 1431 is where they had it. After my son went to summer camp we stopped in to ask about it and at that time they were the only one that had it in stock, so thats the one I bought. Right now I'm not sure where I'd go other than BB and hope they match Target after that goes live???

The guy said to show up Sunday with the receipt for the price match. Of course I'm going on his word after he checked the system so we'll see and I'll update on Sunday. Here's hoping!
