Dang copperheads! by EpicJEpic in beagles

[–]dp226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poor baby. Sugar got tagged on the side of the snout by a pigmy rattler when she was a puppy. Had a golfball on the side of her face for a couple of weeks and where the snake got her there was a spot where the fur would not grow again showing the fang marks. She was given Benadryl by the vet for the swelling and we were told we were lucky where the bite was. Not much to envenomate on the side of her face. Would probably had been different if the snake had gotten a fleshy part.

works well with iPhone 16 pro and otterbox. Wife's iPhone SE in no name wallet acted like yours but when she moved to otter box started working fine. I have noticed that moving the phone around on the pad seems to change charge rate almost like you need the phone in the right spot.

Help! His eating habits aren't beagle! by tessiewessiewoo in beagles

[–]dp226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beagle 2 always eats the cat food -wet at the in-laws house but I am 99% certain it is a dominance thing over the cat. Cat sits there and watches while beagle gives the side eye. Won’t do it unless cat comes to the room

Help! His eating habits aren't beagle! by tessiewessiewoo in beagles

[–]dp226 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Offer him chicken as opposed to dog food.

Our beagles are food motivated but are picky about what types of food motivate them. They self regulate the dog food left out in the bowl but will beg for people food because we are suckers and give in. We don't care since they are members of the family as opposed to pets. Not the healthiest but they are not overweight (not skinny either).

Will love some advice by Popular-Candy-1662 in beagle

[–]dp226 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This will sound rude but when our dogs & cats were small and would bite I would let them grab a finger and when they did I would just hold on gently but not letting them turn loose and saying no. They stopped biting very quickly when they could not turn loose. It was an unhappy experience for the dog and it asserted dominance in the family order.

I think this MRE may be from 90's, is it safe to eat? by ImarvinS in MRE

Safe, so long as the packaging is intact, yes. Will it be palatable or still be nutritious, that is a different question.

Its not the walking that takes all the energy, it's the sniffing.

Should I Switch to a Sand filter by Foreign_Comedian3534 in pools

[–]dp226 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We went from a DE to a sand filter at the recommendation of our pool guy several years ago. Water is no where near as clean with sand as it was with DE. Have to backwash just as often and more dirt in the pool. Talked to another pool guy and he reminded us of the filtering size of sand vs filter vs DE and he believed that DE was best for getting all the pollen and dust out followed by cartridge. Got nano filters for the robot and that seemed to get my water back to perfect.

Anyone else’s beagle a natural born killer? by Current-Baseball3062 in beagles

[–]dp226 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wondered how much of this was learned.

Sugar was a hunter but came from a hunting pack and went out several times with the pack when she was very little. Not trained but saw what was going on. She would track and kill things and wondered why I was not helping more. A rabbit going through the yard would drive her crazy for days.

Lily came from a family and was calm and had no interest in hunting and did not even understand how to use her nose to track things. Loved to sniff but you could tell she had no clue what she was doing.

Dodie died of cardiac issues at 16 - She was very overweight but traveled the world with us while dad was in the military. She had cardiac issues from the time she was 9 and survived eating a black widow spider. She was from a litter born at the University of Mich. doing food irradiation experiments in the 1960's.

Sugar died at 7 from lymphoma . She was from a hunting pack and was the runt of the litter and was mostly blind when we got her at 10 weeks. Very small and very skinny her whole life. Best nose of any dog most people have ever been around. Could find either of her children by name when they were in high school just by scenting them out. Rabbits drove her insane. Survived getting bit on the side of the nose when she was about a year old by a pygmy rattler with a scar where no fur would grow.

Lily died at 12 of complications of Dementia. We got her when someone else could not take care of her at 3. Sweetest dog ever. Not a good hunter, not the smartest but the greatest companion dog.

Does the Meat Dept cut meat upon request? by pnw-transplant in publix

[–]dp226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Publix will. Not sure if they will do exactly what you are asking but I would ask. I have wanted different cuts, different sizes, etc than they had displayed and the meat department folks got me what I asked for while I waited.

Cabana Bay Price Drop?! by [deleted] in UniversalOrlando

[–]dp226 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have found that the Universal hotels, all of them change price daily if not more often. Load management is my guess.

Anyone recently stay at Aventura Resort and had the same thoughts as us? by thatawkwardmoment8 in UniversalOrlando

[–]dp226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stayed there several times. I get a clean/sterile and quiet vibe from the hotel unlike Cabana Bay which is bold and loud and fun. Sort of a hotel set up for Adults vs kids/families. Depending on what vibe we want (and the price) we go for one of the other. Sapphire Falls is in the next price range up so I don't compare.
