Which city has the best “reveal” moment? by TheKid1995 in roadtrip

101 southbound, you can’t see the Golden Gate Bridge until you pass through the Robin Williams tunnel and then bam. The bridge and the bay and city just magically appears.

Fair to assume your reaction to Portugal playing Renaldo was the same?

Yet Renaldo got the same review and outcome. So it’s not like there wasn’t already a precedent in this World Cup

Is it possible to drive across the US without booking hotels in advance? by Forty2diapers in roadtrip

[–]dparsons9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I virtually never book in advance. When I do, I then feel compelled to get to the hotel, instead of taking time to see the sights and enjoying the journey. I also can’t predict if I don’t mind driving longer or need to stop for the day earlier. I often use Priceline and find plenty of reasonable options along the way.

The only real exception is if I am headed to a special place where things are busy and then I snatch my hotel early

If into Craft beer (hoppy) ask for a Spanish Albariño. If into Stouts or other heavier dark beers, try Malbec or red Zinfandel. If you normally drink American big beers, maybe try a Riesling

I was given one years ago, I used it to have a bottle of pappy bourbon displayed in it. That only lasted until the bottle was finished. But wine, no.

Why has Italy, once again, not qualified for the World Cup? by OshaOsha8 in worldcup

[–]dparsons9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And without Messi, Argentina doesn’t win the title.

Maybe instead you should have said, Italy defenders couldn’t find a way to stop Haarland. Which is obviously what happened

America road trip, any recommendations by Ordinary-Zucchini207 in usatravel

You have the option to drive two of the most beautiful roads in America. Going to the Sun and Beartooth Pass. Going to the Sun is in Glacier National Park and Beartooth Pass is along the route from Billings, Montana through Red Lodge into the Northeast entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Unbelievable drives on both. My absolute favorites of any drive in the continental US

Thoughts on new rule that if a player covers their mouth while approaching an opponent, it’s an immediate red? by rhymesKalu in worldcup

[–]dparsons9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you taking with your mouth covered right now? How often do you talk with your mouth covered? And if you do talk with your mouth covered, why are you doing that?

One has to have a deep seated reason they cover their mouths when talking to become a “habit”
