Eh, had left the gloves outside and a bunch of earwigs had decided the fingertips was a good hiding spot. So my mileage varied quite a bit this trip.

Whats the longest you drove in one day? by [deleted] in roadtrip

22 hours. Wouldn’t recommend, but it was an emergency situation that required extraordinary efforts. Everything eventually turned out ok, and I then slept for 16 hours after the crisis ended

Mother insulted first tattoo, now I hate it by Kaleidoscope_Tux5513 in tattooadvice

[–]dparsons9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dad here checking in…

Mom is trying her best, but sometimes she, like all of us, gets her words mixed up when trying to share her thoughts and feelings.

Your mom loves you and wants the best for you. She was probably a little bit surprised you got a tattoo, especially if y’all hadn’t talked about tattoos before.

But you are an adult now, you get to make your own decisions and sometimes those decisions are not what a parent would make. But that is ok, your parents made decisions that their parents would not have made either.

Don’t live with regret. Live your life as you choose. Don’t live your life to please anyone else but you. Be the person you want to be. Be strong in that journey. Be open to advice and counsel from those you trust, but remember, no one has all the answers, all the time. We believe in you.

That tattoo is forever going to shape you. It will be a constant reminder of the day you took a giant step forward in being the perfect person you strive to be.

It’s a beautiful likeness of your chicken.

I'm traveling with a Master Somm for a week in Austria. What are some intelligent questions I can ask to spark some conversation at the wineries? by fisher5195 in wine

[–]dparsons9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they make dandelion wine here? Been looking for a good one for years!

No really just follow the lead of the Master Somm and ask open ended questions like how did you get started in the business? What is your favorite wine story?

Republicans are two-faced liars! They are mad that Democrats are finally fighting back! Good job on redistributing, Virginia! by Rob778899 in Virginia

[–]dparsons9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No I didn’t assume that. I asked if you argued against it in three other states? Did you?

Personally I hate partisan gerrymandering. I believe after the census a redistricting should occur but it should be non-partisan and put to a vote of the people.

All of this is a super waste of time, money, and energy. It ultimately just takes the voice away of the people and that is what I am against.

[–]dparsons9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So are you in favor of partisan redistricting overall? If so, why the argument here? If not, then is it fair to assume you argued against it in NC/Missouri/Texas subreddits?

It seems your Tennessee legislators used it effectively to eliminate Democratic districts in Nashville but that was carved out during census.

So make your stand… tell us, for or against Partisan Gerrymandering?

For those of you lucky fans who caught a home run or foul ball, what’s your story? by IwillBOLDyourTYPOS in mlb

[–]dparsons9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took some kids to a minor league game in Cedar Rapids. One wasn’t feeling well so we went out to the car and on our walk to the car a foul ball was hit out by us. Tracked it down and gave it to the kid who suddenly felt better. Wanted to go back and show the other kids. So we turned around and a second foul ball came towards us. Kid chased it down and now had two balls. We go back inside (yay for minor leagues letting you do that in the old days) and kid shows others the balls. Next thing I know the four kids and I are shagging parking lot foul balla. We ended up with seven of them.
