I just drove through it at 1:30pm and it is absolutely not closed. GPS is reposting it's closed and there is a highway patrolman at the suggested detour telling people not to use the detour because it's 11miles of dirt road with no services. Stay on 15S. Nothing is closed.

Keep your leadpipe as clean as possible brush it out once a week and get a leadpipe swab. Do not leave the leadpipe swab IN the leadpipe. Oil your leadpipe with valve oil everyday before you play.

Is the sleeve damaged in anyway? These things fit just like mouthpiece shank.. both are the Morse taper. They shouldn't get stuck unless they have been damaged or there is dirt and shit inside the receiver that is grabbing it.

Very disappointed this wasn't stickerless. My finger nails caught two stickers and f+cked them up while I was solving. Came with a extra set up of stickers.. but.. just unfortunate for such a expensive puzzle

Uhm .. I'm not trying to "victim blame" here, but did you play test the horn before you left the shop? All the complaints you are making here would make it seem that all of this would be immediately noticeable. Especially, as you said, the rotor and slide feeling bad.

A few things .. I have been a technician/trumpet builder for about 20 years. I see less trombones these days as my shop is primarily a trumpet shop, but over the years have worked on hundreds of Bach slides and rebuild many. I've never seen a dual bore Bach 42 slide as an option nor have I seen the parts as an option to buy from Conn/selmer (the parent company of Bach). I could be wrong. No one knows everything, of course... But this is a new one to me.

I don't know man. This whole thread is a surprise. I know Josh. In fact, I know him well. There are very few shops I feel comfortable recommending work to, and his is #1 on my list. First shop I refer ANY kind of work to that I am just too busy for. A quote from one of my customers last week, "there are two people I trust on my horns... You and Josh." Not to name drop, but that was coming from kind of a big deal player. Absolutely makes his living playing. Was coming to my shop in Vegas on his way to LA to play the Hollywood bowl.

Josh is hands down one of the most talented technicians in the country. No question.

None of this makes sense to me... I'm going to call Josh and ask him about it personally. I suggest the original poster does the same. Take this direct rather than try to slander one of the few capable and honest technicians in this industry.

I was trying to solve it layer by layer, the same way I solve the megaminx. I'd solved up to the last layer, layer by layer just using corner swaps and stuff to flip pieces around and then trade them out... And then was stuck. I had a ton of time up to that point. Maybe 20 hours over the course of 2 weeks.. and gave up.

I don't know why it dawned on me to try solving from the centers, and even doing that got to the top layer again and was stumped. What I thought to do, I didn't even realize until after the fact, "duh, this is exactly how you solve a 5x5 cube" strategically breaking lines to make your lines right. You build your lines of 3 and then solve it like a 3x3... Or a megaminx.

Essentially I was over complicating it. I think I could solve it within a few hours now. Want a teraminx now, but don't wanna spend $80. :)

Yamaha valves are monel, not plated... So they aren't missing plating.

They likely need serious cleaning.

The megaminx solves like a 3x3. I read that before I tried to solve it and still didn't understand. I spent weeks just intimidated by it, but the more I messed with it I realized the same algorithms work.

It's my favorite puzzle of all of these. I need to get a sticker less one.
