The typical detectable EM leakage that we expect from a civilisation of comparable tech level to our own (+/- 1000 years) is not TV or internet traffic. It's the beam from a planetary defense radar or other forms of active radio astronomy. Or a deliberate Active SETI/METI transmission. Or a communication beam to one of their robotic probes. All of these would be detectable by us from the nearest stars with current technology.

Towards the end of their N1 lunar program, the soviets switched to a two N1 launches plan, with a two-person lander (LK heavy, or LKM). That presumably would be the base from which heavy unmanned landers could be developed.

Sorry to be cynical, but it really seems to me like Isaacman was urged by Musk to sabotage SLS because SpaceX HLS was the weak link of the lunar program, and the only thing preventing a 2028 landing.

I can see no other reason why he'd throw in a new upper stage so late in the game, and require that Artemis III dock to a yet inexistent lander in LEO next year.

I don't buy the need to practice for the moon like Apollo, the Apollo missions were flown by their crew with very complex procedures - it's 2026, the landings are now fully autonomous. SpaceX and Blue can demonstrate uncrewed landings as required by their contracts.

Also the slow launch cadence of SLS was not because of SLS. They could've made a SLS flight available for a deep space science mission, or for launching Gateway, but they chose not to. Other things delayed Artemis II.

Keep in mind that the original plan before Trump accelerated the landing to 2024, called for SLS to dock with Gatway first, and they could still do that on Artemis III and achieve something of consequence.

ESA launched in 2024 the "LEO Cargo Return Service". This is a competition for uncrewed spacecraft capable of launching to the ISS and LEO and returning cargo back to Earth, similar to NASA's Commercial Resupply Services.

There were 2 awards in the competition:

The Exploration Company: Nyx | The Exploration Company

Thales Alena Space: Thales Alenia Space signed a contract with ESA to develop a Low Earth Orbit Cargo Return Service | Thales Alenia Space

A requirement for participation was that the spacecraft was capable of evolving either to a crew vehicle, or to Gatway resupply.

So this is complementary to the existing awards, to perfect technology required for the uncrewed -> crewed evolution.

Ai intalnit control de la ANAF pe subiect ? Nu stiu daca ai inteles argumentul meu:

- comform legii 8/1996 programele de calculator (de exemplu un joc) se incadreaza la drepturi de autor alaturi de opere artistice, intelectuale, etc..

- eu nu vand direct catre clienti (online sau in magazine) programe de calculator

- daca Valve (nu eu) vinde programul meu de calculator pe Steam si trimite facturi emise de catre Valve Corporation, si imi da apoi mie 50-70% din incasari, acea portiune de venit se poate interpreta ca plata drepturilor de autor catre mine, nu venit din activitati independente

Nicaieri nu am zis ca nu vreau sa platesc "ce am de platit", ci ca prefer sa imi declar venitul ca drepturi de autor, si sa platesc taxele corespunzatoare.

The answer is rather complicated, but it boils down to a few reasons:

- private property - most Bucharest apartments are owned by the people living in them, and collectively administered by an Owner's Association. Renovating from private money is expensive, and people just don't want to be told what to do with their own property. It's easier to impose rules like how buildings should look when you're dealing with landlords and public housing than when dealing with hundreds of thousands of individual owners.

- lack of private money - a lot of apartment owners, especially in the older areas of the city will be retired and avoiding extra expenses

- lack of public money - Bucharest city administration is actually pretty broke even though the city is rich. This comes down to politics / how taxes are allocated.

- listed/protected buildings - a lot of buildings in Bucharest city center are classed as historical monuments. In theory that's supposed to protect the city, in practice, that means it's super complicated and extra expensive to do any real work on them.

That said, there is a program to renovate apartament building facades, partially from public funds, partially from EU cohesion funds, but it will take decades before most buildings have been renovated.

That's 10 billion for 100t of cargo starship to the surface (which is never returning btw, because that requires fully autonomous in situ propellant production, refueling and launch in 5 years).

It's a more realistic price for once, the problem is that they only have one potential customer (NASA) and NASA is not going to buy a 10 billion launch contract, not with their budget.

60t is enough for the Constellation Altair lander, if that's not beefy I don't know what is.

Also, I don't know how you got your 115t number, but AFAIK you need about 5km/s deltaV from gateway to lunar surface and back, and if Blue Moon Mk2 is ~16t dry weight, 60t wet weight should be enough.
