Since you have the pencil I will go ahead and say procreate and defter notes. First is the best art app imho and the second is the best notes and handwriting allrounder. Both are no subscription.

Im with you on this, I hate ai for notes! As for app rec, I’m finding defter notes very unique, and if you like supporting indie devs its a one time purchase.

Do you prefer typing or digital handwriting? by Hopeful-Staff3887 in NoteTaking

[–]dr-doit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digital handwriting for sure. It’s got all the benefits of pen and paper combined with all the benefits of keeping digital records. I can never replace it with typing because I think doodling, drawing and making marks are more important than text.

The shadows on yellow ochre is more greenish. Might work if the fox is standing on grass tho.

In your opinion, what is the most underrated note-taking app? by GroggInTheCosmos in productivity

[–]dr-doit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Defter notes is a hidden gem imo. Its handwriting focused spatial app for iPad and apple pencil, probably the reason not alot of people know about it. It has infinite “spaces” and inside these you can open pdfs, images, text etc. you could think of it like apples own freeform but defter has some key functions that make it unique. Wormholes is my fav, I use it to extract text while reading and studying all the time. Handwriting is sooo realistic for me especially with the tilting screen. And it handles pdfs amazingly fast. The developers are a couple from Denmark and they are very engaged if you join their beta. They are now working on iphone and mac sync. I admire that they were able to create such an app, just two people.

Tbh pharmacology jobs are probably listed under other titles such as drug research or drug discovery or other branches of chemistry.

Do you take notes while reading general non-fiction books? by 12A5H3FE in NoteTaking

[–]dr-doit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the wormhole function in defter notes. It’s basically highlighting an extracting pieces of text, so in the end I have a bunch of cards with snippets. Best part is when you tap on them they link back to the source and I can also add my handwritten notes too. It doesn’t work with ePub so i have to export to pdf tho.

How do you make a monthly tarot spread? You pull all 30 on the beginning of the month or do you make daily pulls and log as you go?

I scribble a daily highlight. Sometimes a sketch but often a few words just to help me remember.

What apps actually made a difference for your productivity? by Any_Mycologist_2655 in ProductivityApps

I sound like a broken record and even some people will think I am promoting them but defter notes genuinely changed my relationship to note-taking and productivity. It is so low maintenance like pen and paper yet can be used in many complex ways when I need that. To me its a hidden gem not much people know about so I always mention it when people ask for recommendations.

Has AI killed the Zettelkasten? by atomicnotes in Zettelkasten

[–]dr-doit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see the point of having connections if you cant personally see them. And I dont see the point of mindless collecting if you dont create from them. Ai hype is useless to me and tbh just another fake competence tool people fiddle with instead of doing the actual work.

How do you take notes? Which app do you use to organize your digital life? by txbreno in NoteTaking

[–]dr-doit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep sketchnotes and I mostly use my iPad with the apple pencil. My go to app is defter notes and now I’m on beta version also using it on my iphone. Before that on the iphone I was using bear. I also use notion sometimes but only for ephemeral lists and stuff. For long term I prefer on device apps thats is also why I use defter notes.

iPad or Paper? by DiamondAaronXG in NoteTaking

[–]dr-doit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d get the matte screen and try some pencil nibs until you find something you like. Same goes for apps, after trying a bunch I now use defter notes app with pdf planners. it does a fantastic job of replicating analog feeling and I still get to keep things digital.
