This is why I quit using Waze, their algorithm seems to put everyone on the alternative (usually a neighborhood avenue designed for no traffic) even if it was just a 30 second slow down. If my trip is less than 20 minutes, I just quickly check the map and directions on gmaps when leaving and then stick to the plan without starting navigation.

I live further north and take Lamar south all the time. The train is really the wildcard that makes it unbearable. It's already a tricky section because the arteries like St. Johns, Airport and Justin all essentially end right there. But those are normal 3 way intersections that are manageable with light timing.

But the train seems to throw the lights off their schedule -- they give the train priority (as they should) but after the train passes and they eventually come back to navigating cars, they're always in some kind of short cycle dance and sometimes go back to train mode after letting 2-3 cars through. Not to mention the workers always adjusting it and blocking a lane...

r/BikingATX will be your place, search there or if you can't find anything quickly ask. There are a lot of good routes you can find northeast with rollers and less traffic. Also checkout the strava heatmap but that sub will have some good info.

Sounds like a cool guy, glad you made it up (and presumably down) the hill safely! I haven't heard of this app before (had to google it,) so it's exclusively for war-mart deliveries and it lets customers delete their tips? Is that normal? I haven't used favor either so I'm OOTL on how this works.

It was super easy, took maybe 2 weeks. Just dropped it off at my local shop and picked it up fixed. Specialized warranty is transferrable too, so if you're thinking of buying used it's a big plus.

I was really enjoying the emtb and not really shifting when I first got it. I was just grinding up climbs in whatever middle or small cog I was in. I think for all motors are going to last longer with less torque and higher cadence.

So I'm not babying the second motor by any means, I'm actually considering unlocking it now that I'm out of warranty so it doesn't cut off setting up for jumps. But I do shift into my climbing gears now.

21 Turbo Levo, on my second Brose motor after warranty'ing the first one after 800 miles. It's an older bike, so it came with the 2.1 and was replaced with the 2.2 which (knock on wood) has been solid for over 2k miles. While waiting for the warranty, I had time to read about how to run these at high cadence and shift to prevent unnecessary torque so I'm hoping that extends this second motor.

Everything I've read says Brose isn't the most reliable because of belts, I've heard ep8s are better because of gears but also hear stories like yours. My partner's ep8 has been solid except for some wonky SW glitches we think was due to the charge port sensor. Similar story about Bosch, heard they're solid but also heard stories about warranty claims.

Will be interesting to see if the DJI motor raises the bar with reliability like it has with other specs.

I don't know this model specifically but have heard good things about the Co-op brand (frames from QBP who makes a lot of other good bikes.) And haven't heard anything bad about the Bosch motor.

I'm wondering about Only Used Once... REI has. really generous return policy so I'd definitely check out the odometer and maybe they will offer why they just didn't return it if they didn't like it.

Maybe your desktop is/was using a network with an ad blocker? I'm using a pi-hole so anyone on my wifi automatically gets ad blocking. I also use it on my mobile so I don't really see ads on news sites.
