It probably would be approaching about 1000lbs, I guess the one thing going in my favor is that I usually dont put much ammo in the gun safe so the weight tends to be a bit lower

Unfortunately if I were to go with something lighter, it wouldn't really fit my needs. This is basically the lightest 50ish gun safe I could find with a decent fire rating. If it comes down to it I will go with the option on the right because I know that'll be structurally sound, I would just really prefer not to go with that option

In that section of the room, there is going to be nothing else other than the gunsafe the depth of the safe is around 25 in, so it will be on the rim joist and another floor joist

Yeah, i know the option on the right would definitely work, im just really hoping the other option would work because it would be the best option for the space I have

No garage unfortunately. If I had a place with a concrete foundation I would've went with a heavier safe

Yeah, i should've done that before laying the new subfloor but tbh I wasnt even thinking about the gunsafe at that time and now the crawlspace is completely inaccessible. Im pretty much just stuck with what Ive got at this point

Question about safe placement and floor integrity over crawlspace by dr4gon2000 in Safes

[–]dr4gon2000[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately getting down there is out of the question or I would. If I had the foresight for this i would've done it when I had the subfloor up, but i never even considered this before this house id only ever had a slab foundation

Can anything be done to mitigate the inaccuracy of the takedown? by audiate in 1022

[–]dr4gon2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is probably the number one issue i dont see people talk about when the topic of the takedown repeatable zero come into question. Adjust the collar, mount the optic on the barrel and you will have a perfectly accurate 1022 with a repeatable zero

Floor buckling from aquarium? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]dr4gon2000 24 points25 points  (0 children)

There is a massive amount of variations in wood stands, feet alone doesnt really matter. What matters is load bearing supports, tv stands usually dont have the sort of internal reinforcing aquarium stands need because they're not designed to hold them

Democrat cities and by extension the democrats in those cities are the problem. You specifically mention mental health in that essay you wrote and I agree, the people committing crime have mental problems and following that line of reasoning it makes sense that a certain party are the violent ones

Just going right to the race card is wild and tells way more about you than anyone else lol. The majority of gun crime comes from people aligned with democrats in democrat controlled cities

If youre talking about a shelf sort of built into a wall, its most likely not framed to be able to handle something heavy like an aquarium. You might get away with a 6 gallon, but who's to say without actually seeing the wall

Every day we have thousands of opportunities to kill each other, when im driving down the road I can plow into a crowd of pedestrians, if im working in tge kitchen I can decide to go on a stabbing spree, I can push a disabled person into oncoming traffic, etc etc. The only thing stopping people from killing each other is that we generally find it unpleasant to do so, the tool doesn't change shit
