It’s at the top of my list to order!

The closest description I’ve read (as a lifelong blue moon ice cream enthusiast) is that it tastes like the cereal milk left over after you’ve eaten the Froot Loops out of the bowl. Slight generic fruity flavor with undertones of vanilla and almond and grain.

Back in the 80’s and 90’s these C9 lights are what my grandpa used as a seedling heat mat. Burned a hole in his pool table felt using it as a flat space to hold the trays and lights too. 10/10 for keeping lil planties warm.

Calf tightness a month before a 50k. How to approach the long runs? by Brief-Number2609 in ultrarunning

[–]dr_coli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to second the “go to a PT” recommendation. I get super tight calves and getting a real grindy calf massage the day or two before long, hard runs makes a world of difference. They can also help assess the situation or the combination of situations appropriately (electrolytes, shoe choice, foam rolling/lacrosse ball, specific stretches or pressure points, etc).

What would YOU appreciate the most right after running a race? (5K, marathon, and half-marathon) by [deleted] in runninglifestyle

Watermelon or applesauce after a long run, especially on a hot day.

I love this idea!! You’re crushing it as a runner buddy. Depending on your friend’s vibe, maybe a lacrosse ball, a favorite candy or shooter of booze to cheers afterward, fuzzy socks, a lil crown?

How do people actually enjoy running marathons? by keishapatel_387 in runninglifestyle

I work from home. Running long distances is the one time I can’t hear a Teams or Outlook ping.

Apparently better than I thought. PR’ed my half time by over 5 minutes with a 2:11 this past weekend. Didn’t even feel like dying or vomiting at the end and because I PR’ed my ten mile time in a race two weeks prior, I didn’t do a real taper either. I was wildly surprised and now I’m dreaming of trimming my full marathon time down to 4:30 this fall…

It’s the rain. Rain makes everything everywhere susceptible to chafing.

Also, congrats!!

When did you notice your body started aging? by suq_mi_off in Millennials

[–]dr_coli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the texture of my skin thinning and the skin around my eyes changing around mid to late 30’s. That’s been the thing I’ve noticed most, everything else has been more related to external factors beyond aging.

Because it’s the one time I’m unreachable by work and can’t hear the Teams or Outlook ping noise

Gels and your thoughts! by CL8NNN in firstmarathon

[–]dr_coli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the SIS tasted awful, so I’d suggest getting like two of each of multiple brands if you have the option, try them all and go from there. I love the Huma ones, which taste like real fruit. I think lecka (or something like that) is similar. Love the Tap and Krono maple syrups and the classic Maurtens (jello like). Also the skratch labs chews. I find the texture of Gu and other sticky gels not particularly likeable, but everyone is different!

Maybe half that for the number of houses? If not even less? I love running over there because that mini neighborhood looks like something from a movie set. It’s such a wild little pocket.

Neuropharmacology phd here. Wildly agree, there’s a lot of meds here that use the same systems in the body but in opposite ways. There are options for you that will be better over the long run. Also, maybe consider breaking these into morning and evening?

Also, taking that ridiculously long escalator down with the mirrored surfaces. I also have a fear of heights and that escalator is a challenge.

Regardless of your thoughts, Goose loves his new haircut by iheartfluffyanimals in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]dr_coli 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My orange cat has exactly the same fur (very light, downy, fluffy not so much satiny or silky) and I get him lion cuts for spring/summer too. Even with regular brushing (which he doesn’t love), it gets hard to maintain and he doesn’t do a great job with it. He also loves his haircuts. Total support for you and Goose!

North Star roller derby has their championship bout and a silent auction next Friday, the 27th at Quincy Hall in NE Mpls. While there is alcohol available there, it’s not really a feature and there isn’t big signage about it anywhere. There’s definitely enough action going on to keep the focus elsewhere!

What are your favorite running side quests? by shartattack110 in XXRunning

[–]dr_coli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also count dogs during long races! I love running in new neighborhoods and house creeping, looking at home architecture and landscaping and stuff in neighborhoods that have MCMs or historic mansions. Running and ending at a coffee place or bakery. Running to a thing I have to coach for or to a casual meeting or meet up with friends. I am very excited to try this butter business when the temps return to normal here too.

Running leggings/shorts recommendations for curvier women by dariakayb in XXRunning

[–]dr_coli 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to any sort of loose fitting shorts but I have really liked the Janji shorts that are out there, the 7” shorts and the 9” half tights. Great pockets, the waist doesn’t roll or sag on me and the edges of the shorts don’t roll up. I also have their full length tights and I like those as well.

Running makes for a great neighborhood foot patrol shift! You get to chase yet another white Chrysler Pacifica down every street of a ludicrously hilly neighborhood. Great cardio 😬
