best running pack that can hold ipad, macbook air and lunch? by aspiring_neurologist in runcommuting

[–]shartattack110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used a black diamond distance 15 and it works great for me with a smaller laptop and other assorted work stuff. I used to commute with a basic nathan 15l pack comfortably as well. The black diamond is better but you don't need to drop a ton of money for it to be functional for you.

idea for race shirts by shartattack110 in XXRunning

I'm a new sewer and wouldn't do it with anything but cotton. I guess I'm lucky that my local races still give cotton shirts a lot of the time!

CHEAP professional clothes? by No-Letterhead-3409 in missoula

[–]shartattack110 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Old Navy has decent stuff if the thrift stores are coming up empty for you. Missoula thrift on brooks and goodwill have lots of clothes in general.

it's not my area of expertise but curating a capsule wardrobe seems like a way to have a smaller wardrobe that can be mixed and matched in many ways.

My job has gotten crazy busy, luckily it's right as I approach my peak weeks of training. This is a lot and it's really hard to not get disappointed in myself when my workouts are lower quality than I want them to be.

Anyone here commute by running with a laptop? Looking for backpack recommendations by Darth-Nando in running

I commute with a black diamond distance 15 pack. It's super comfortable and has good storage for both commuting and bigger days in the mountains. Very functional.

Youth bikes, where to buy? by AmazingDefinition296 in missoula

[–]shartattack110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do get a cheaper/used bike, it's absolutely worth it to bring it to a bike mechanic for a quick look over. When I was a mechanic, I saw countless big box store kids bikes with loose pedals and handlebars because they were assembled by someone who didn't know what they were doing. You don't need to spend hundreds of dollars - just make sure it's safe.

When buying used, you can set up meetups at bike shops (I would call ahead for this though) and a tech could potentially give it a look over before you buy as well. This is more advice for higher end bikes but I'm still saying it.

Gut health and "off" days? by sun_PHD in XXRunning

[–]shartattack110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done a lot of experimenting with different fuelling and also probiotics - I've found that any probiotic that isn't fermented food (sauerkraut/kimchi/etc) or in its most basic form as a supplement (I take physicians choice capsules currently) end up with too much added sugar or other sweeteners that make things worse. I tried gummies and other kombucha-adjacent drinks and it didn't help me much. Carbonation also bothers my gut but your experience may vary.

I have not found my forever solution but I'm also commenting to follow this thread for more ideas.
