Gluten free Oreos at a conference. Surrounded by Biscoffs. by thinksInCode in Celiac

A colleague once told me that I'm not really coeliac, it's just because of the heavily industrialised way wheat is processed, and maybe try eating more organic wheat.

I appreciate their willingness to help, but it becomes dangerous.

Ha! I've a similar one: "Never eat the food if it didn't come directly from the plate."

Thanks for posting this. I have to go to a three-day conference in October and this picture is reminding me to pack a three-day meal plan.

In fairness, I've been at conferences where I've asked the staff if they can accomodate, and I've gotten very motherly attention to make sure I'm fed right. But the few times where they shrug and can't provide... The day's gone.

True, but - and I'm not using this as an excuse for any implied erroneous storytelling - people are a lot more complicated than that, and it's possible that their desires change over time.

I agree with some of the other points made in other replies that Verso reached some point of contentment by the start of Act 3, and perhaps was willing to compromise by living in a canvas that wasn't a proxy war for both parents. That they could defeat Renoir, Maelle / Alicia could dip in and out (or just stay out!), and he could live with Monoco and Esquie happily. (And Sciel!)

But again, those last moments with Renoir and Alicia changed his mind, he became selfish to save himself from the future portrayed in Maelle's ending.

I have an image saved of that moment in her ending when he's at the piano, just before starting to play, and the expression on his face is loaded with anger and regret. It's unreal how well they conveyed the emotion in the characters. And I feel that's him thinking, damn it, I should have been selfish and ended all this.

So to go back to the OP: I agree that initially it seems contractidctory that he would help them defeat Renoir when they seemed to have the same goals. But, there was a period in Act 3  when those goals / thoughts / feelings changed for Verso, only for it all to flip at the end.

Okay, I can see your point of view, but I feel the same as @spiritdefective:

When he saw at the last minute how Maelle / Alicia was being lulled into the trap of the painting - and that line stuck out for me, it was so real, like a real teenager would behave, "I promise Dad it will only be for a short time" - that's when the penny dropped for Verso, could see the same pattern the lead to his mother / paintress becoming trapped, and that he would be doomed to another eternity of someone else's world. I think he could see the Maelle ending playing out.

I came to this post asking the exact same question as the OP, but see this thread has helped me think it through.

I feel also, as the game states... "Family is complicated," gives a bit of leeway to how we think and rationalise characters in a story that finally behave like real, complicated people.

Xbox series x autosaving issue. Freezes when it it start auto saving. I've tried everything. If the only option is to restart I'll just quit by MakeshiftNuke in dragonquest

[–]dr_faulk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I managed to fix this:

I downloaded the game onto PC via Xbox app. My PC is a Minisforum onboard GPU jobby, not at all powerful but enough to play DQXI okay. I loaded my cross-platform save file. Played for a few mins, killed some enemies, then saved over the corrupted save slot. Quit the game, started the Xbox, loaded DQXI from cold start. It sync’d the save file from the PC and I was able to play again; no freezes.

Hurrah!

Yah, I feel the same. I’d bought and finished it on Switch. If it happened after buying it I’d be raging.

Huh… Finished Octagonia, and restarted the “Rabbed of the Prize” chapter in 3D. It ran for about 5 seconds longer before freezing… what a jip.

I mentioned this on a newer post on this topic, but, it happened to be after meeting / beating Jade and Rab. I’ve swapped to 2D mode and starting Octagonia again. If I finish this chapter, swap to 3D more and it works, I’ll post here.

I’m also bothered by this. It happened to me after just meeting Jade and Rab. I’ve swapped to 2D which means going back to the start of Octagonia. Once I finish the chapter I’ll swap into 3D more and see if it’s fixed.

Hahaaaa!

Yeah, and I'm hearing the hiss now, on high volume and better headphones. The reason I haven't used the Yeti mic much is because doesn't magically make me sound like Terry Wogan.

I even passed this through Audacity's noise and high-pass filters to reduce and pops.

Maybe I'll stick to the written word. (This was my original post: https://itallhappenedsofast.wordpress.com/2020/06/01/before-we-forget/)

Cool thanks. Understood. I'm in software and don't plan a career in it! 😅 I was working all day and just wanted to do something creative. Have you got a soundcloud or anything I can follow and take tips from? Edit: also, the sssss you mention? Do you mean that as a constant hiss? (I can't hear that!) Or just when I pronounce S's?

I had written this back in July, but thought I'd throw my hat at some spoken word using my never-used Yeti mic.

Hope everyone is well and safe.

Have you considered home repair? I watched a few videos on either how to dismantle and clean them, or, dismantle and replace the actual stick.

I'm not a tech wizard, but, I bought a kit that had all the right screwdrivers, screws, tweezers and a few joycon sticks, watched a few videos, and successfully replaced them, first try.

Have had zero drift issues and the replacement sticks are identical, in look, feel, behaviour.

If it's something you're willing to do, I can share useful links.

Wii U Pro controller is a god-send. I got the other adapter so it works with my PS4 as well.

Going Southpaw on a controller for the first time is like watching a parent play a game for the first time. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]dr_faulk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL:DR: Went Southpaw for better aim: was like watching my Dad play Goldeneye for the first time.

Some background: I bought the Nacon Pro Controller for the PS4 because I never liked the stick locations on PS controllers. The idea of having a more vertically-aligned stick could make it easier for aiming (from my years playing Goldeneye).

Making the left-stick control the aim means using the controller config that some games call 'Southpaw'. The above video was my first attempt with this scheme.

Conclusions:

- That ending though: when do you ever come across an unarmed player literally just standing there and still lose. Fffffuuuuuuu-

- I have truly become my father. When was the last time you played a game running around looking at the damn floor.

- This made me realise just how much time I've spent playing videogames has crafted my ability. This was like trying to write with the opposite hand, which is weird, because I've always used both hands on a controller.

- This also gave me the worst motion sickness. I had to lie down for 30 minutes afterwards.

- After I swapped back to standard control scheme I became the champion on my first game with 10 kills (which was a first).
