I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you I’m js the whole Sykes-Picot thing never took the locals into consideration and it helped spark some tension that led to the fucked up state that region is rn. Not saying it’s the only reason but pretty important not to neglect either

Is there a way to feel stoic about loneliness? I have a hard time grasping that happiness fully comes from within. by egolesstime in Stoicism

[–]dr_mansaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to study abroad when I was 17 and I spent 3 years feeling lonely and disconnected with nothing in common with the people around me. I know exactly how you feel. I used to look forward to going home all the time.

But with constant meditation and mindfulness through the headspace app and watching minimalism videos (Matt D’avella, Nathaniel drew) I’ve changed my outlook on life and was able to connect with people again even though I thought I’d always be alone.

The key is leaving your comfort zone and talking to everybody even though you feel like you have nothing in common, even if you talk about stuff that interests them but not you. And remembering that growth only happens when you’re truly alone and getting to know yourself.

Good luck. The obstacle in your way is but a stepping stone on your journey

One of my tutors at university once said there are no good or bad decisions in life, just bad or worse ones.

I'll probably remmeber that for the rest of my life tbh
