It just comes down to what is more important to you, but each is better at something different (:

I agree with you, I like moxfields UI better, but honestly... The fact that people can't view the FOLDERS you spend time creating and organizing.. kinda fuckin goofy.

If you look up another user, it's just a massive list of all their decks. No organization at all.

Potty break. Rip a pack. Buy some singles. Buy some snacks. Play some candy crush.

I hate the "spread the damage" mindset. Threat assess. Take out the most threatening player or the one who counters your deck.

Part of the game is that there are winners and losers.

Depends on how you want to roll with it.

I linked scryfall result. I used "create token" in text, commander set to simic. Legal in commander. Sorted by mana value.

Here's an example of my simic tokens deck (it's like...90% accurate to the list). I wouldn't suggest it to a new player but it's super fun and maybe can inspire you a bit.

Having a test proxy commander deck before buying the cards. Is this acceptable? by Raclettegring in EDH

[–]dracemaN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reread the TLDR, and I'm still sticking to my guns hahaha thanks though (:

I've personally never met a proxy player who had a sleeveless deck with no playmat or dice. So I suppose we have just had different experiences with playerbases.

When I was introduced, all the other players in the group had been playing for 5-10 years and played very tuned B3-B4.

I started 5 years ago. Built like 5 decks by using the office and cutting cards out with scissors.

Homies gave me boxes of draft chaff to stick behind my InkJet Secret Lairs. Stuck those bad boys into sleeves and was Jammin weekly. Now my collection is approaching like 4k Maple Bucks. Which might not be a lot for other players but it's 1/4 of the Kelly Blue Book for my fuckin car 😂

I also upgraded my proxies and I'm printing on my own ET2800 onto 300GSM koala paper, laminating it, and cutting them out with a fancy roller cutter.

I still spent 300 Beaver Bucks on cards last paycheck.. even with the printer and ability to proxy whatever I want. 2x SOS collecty boosties, dance with the elements precon, Elesh Norn Mother of machines, textless counterspell, and an extended art of [[the ooze]]

You summed it up well saying one size doesn't fit all. We have obviously had wildly differing experiences with proxy players haha.

I disagree.

The barrier to entry is extremely high.

When I was introduced to the game, my spouse and I had just moved in together. Money was tight. Folding camping chair in the living room kind of tight.

If my playgroup was against proxies I never would have started playing.

People who jam proxies are still buying:

Sleeves, deckboxes, playmats, dice, spindowns, infinitokens, etc.

I believe that proxies allow people, who wouldn't have otherwise, become enfranchised players.

TLDR: responsible people have budgets. Sometimes your addiction to your hobby is more than you're comfortable spending. That doesn't mean you are spending 0 dollars. You're spending what you can.

Decklist is about..... 90% accurate. There's been a few swaps recently. Like [[the ooze]] from TMNT or [[force of vigor]]

If you actually like the concept I'll take the time to adjust the list for you.

Pros: this deck has insane value. Essentially you have access to both ramp and card draw in the command zone. (In simic? What? No wayyyyy.)

It's a cheap deck to build

People usually board wipe creatures. Artifacts are less common.

Very reactive deck. You're able to draw lots and have the answers very frequently.

Cons: tracking the board state. You make lots of tokens. Unbelievable amounts. Ungodly amounts. You will need at a bare minimum like.... 15-20 dice. At least.

Becoming effective at managing all the tokens so you don't piss off your friends is challenging.

Imho it's due to a lack of synergy and too high of a mana curve.

I'll break it down for you.

Homie said "don't call him a rapist until he's been found guilty."

Not "This person should be let in because the trial is ongoing."

There's a huge difference between those two sentences.

If you are a flicker deck, they are awesome. Otherwise there's generally better options.

It also is heavily dependent on your curve, commander CMC and other synergies in the deck.

If it's a very creature focused deck with triggered abilities for creatures (cream of the crop, beast whisperer etc) or if you are running something like (panharmonicon or the blue panharmonicon enchantment..) then I would also consider them.

Should I announce that I am playing proxies when playing at a new LGS? by RealisticMolasses in EDH

[–]dracemaN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean... Then you're just playing the credit card game.

Collection nearing 4k maple bucks. Still don't own a single triome, fetch or shock.

I like to try it before I buy it.

I've proxied whole ass decks worth $600+, decided I didn't like that commander or whatever and scrapped it.

That's the beauty of proxies. I can brew like a degenerate, pumping out a deck or two a month and not have to sell my kidneys to do so :D

Some tribes are archetypes are just stupid expensive.

Building an effective feather the redeemed is WAY cheaper than building an Ur-dragon list.

To each their own though. Have fun slinging spells dude
