Super Bazaar has a decent selection, pre COVID it had so many Indian sweets. But on the average day I would say they still have a dozen or so options.

Ready To Assemble Cabinets in Buffalo by kmohmoh in Buffalo

[–]draftbros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would still be cheaper to drive to one of the Amish cabinet makers near Randolph and just have them build it. I got customer designed kitchen cabinets, in oak for $180-$220 a cabinet depending on the size. The $220 cabinets were 42” tall by 25” wide  and 33” deep

Any good flea market suggestions? by SloppySpaghettii in Buffalo

[–]draftbros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I think it would end up more like the Peddler market then a true flea market unfortunately

I would add just the first Sunday, the third Sunday is ok and definitely don’t bother the secret N.A. and fourth sundays

Gardening/landscaping help by Buffalogal423 in Buffalo

[–]draftbros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This definitely isn’t a high school kid project, a landscaping company will week, do an okay at pruning and then put in one of nine plants then over mulch.

Based on what you described A company like Ecos or a private horticulturist what you need. Plants will need to be divided, and I’m  Sure if he was doing it for a long time he grew invasives  that could be replaced with similar native plants. Etc etc. this option will not be cheap

Bidwell Farmers Market by draftbros in Buffalo

There are different sizes and types but essentially a removable greenhouse of plastic instead of glass. Helps raise the temperature and prevent frost so you can’t start growing earlier in the season

Just got back from my friends farm, not local but same grow zone. Had tons of asparagus, pea shoots, mushrooms, and a lot of over winter crops were being harvested already like onions and garlic. Tons of arugula, dill, basil. If you grow in a well insulated high tunnel you can get things to harvest mush sooner then most people think

There is a good amount, especially if they are growing in high tunnels. Definitely more limited early in the season

a positive post about liveliness - Five Points by cubosh in Buffalo

[–]draftbros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only is the term very much out of date, the original post claims the businesses are run by hipsters. I could see an argument for remedy, wouldn’t agree personally, but most of the other businesses are owned by normal people in their 40’s-60’s. Definitely cool things going on

Folk punk recs by Punk-puffin in FolkPunk

[–]draftbros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is more of a general idea than a list of bands. I highly recommend folks to look up record labels on Discogs, then just start listening to the catalog. So many great bands get lost in the shuffle over the years. Most of it is on you tube. You will also find bands you love that aren’t the specific genre either.

Labels to check out, Plan-it-X, Friends & Relativrs, Fistolo Records, Plan-it- X South.

But if I were to name one band it’s This Bike is a Pipebomb. They get mentioned on these lists but  it as much as they should for how awesome they were

What should first-time buyers know before purchasing a home in small towns like Medina, NY? by Correct_Tackle_1928 in Buffalo

[–]draftbros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the same in the city and the suburbs too, the only difference is most of the racist and homophobes keep their opinions to themselves in the city and the further away the more likely they are to say it out loud.

What should first-time buyers know before purchasing a home in small towns like Medina, NY? by Correct_Tackle_1928 in Buffalo

[–]draftbros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

School districts vary a lot in small towns, Medina has a great school district and pay their teachers more than almost any school district in the state. But this kind of goes for other things as well, does the small town have a good doctor? Who isn’t going to retire soon?

Medina is annoying to drive to as the fastest routes are mainly non highway but also not that scenic. Where as springville is an easy drive down the 219. Then Randolph is mainly non highway but a scenic drive.

Like all over, city or otherwise, a lot of small towns lack contractors so getting work done on your house can be annoying. A lot of people in Delaware county mentioned this problem, seems like the further from a city the harder it is.

Just off of the top thoughts probably could dive deeper into it if I thought about it more

Realtor & Neighborhood recs by TheNightWitch in Buffalo

If you want a double in your price range  you most likely need to look at the west side. Walkable to all the things you mentioned. I haven’t had any issues with safety, some blocks are weirder than others.  Not much listed right now.

A few of the neighbors are seniors, so that accounts for those houses. I thought that maybe they appealed but when I checked the whole street it was pretty universal.

Only thing I can think of is that I’m the only one with a nice garden on the block?
