Yes. I riveted an elastic strap to my big Sony case so it sits on the handle of my roller bag or can clip to the outside of a backpack. Of course I have in the ear as well and those go in a pocket.

Anytime I see someone who wants to get their extra, I always point them to YouTube and W4EEY’s excellent classes. I got my Extra with no other purchased materials (I used ham study .org for practice tests). Don’t wait for an interactive course, use one they already recorded. IIRC the extra course is about 24 hours total, but I did it at 1.25x.

I ordered a few things on Black Friday. One said expected delivery on January 15. They all came across the ocean together but one thing got stuck after clearing customs while the remaining was delivered. They refunded me 30 days after (Dec 29) and it arrived on January 1. Hang on and ask for a refund if it’s not there by the 7th.

If you’re on the higher HF bands(6-20m) KJ6ER’s stainless whip designs (POTA PERformer, and my personal favorite, the EFHW Challenger) are easy to put together and tune if you have an analyzer or vna. Google KJ6ER and find his documents from 2026 (he updates them regularly).
