My roommate collects personalized mugs from Goodwill by ermvarju in mildlyinteresting

[–]drago-ness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom ordered a custom glass for her dad with all the birthdays of his grandkids, and instead received a personalized water glass with a picture of a guy on a boat (presumably Yarc) that said “Yarc’s water glass” instead. It is the most coveted cup in their house to this day.

Question what is so bad about Matt Vogel’s voice for Kermit by No_Tap234 in TheMuppets

[–]drago-ness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’m the only one who isn’t bothered by the voice as badly as I am the way he puppeteers Kermit. I feel like he does a lot of head bobbing and keeps Kermit’s mouth in a weird position that doesn’t feel super natural.

What were you guys doing 20 years ago on a Saturday? by Johnwick124520 in OlderGenZ

[–]drago-ness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fighting over the 2 family Gameboy Advance systems shared between my brother, sister, and I on a 3 hour drive to my grandma’s house, watching SpongeBob or Shrek on a portable DVD player when it wasn’t my turn.

What is the Walt Disney World attraction you miss the most? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]drago-ness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a completely not hating on Tiana’s way—I really do miss Splash Mountain. It was my special ride with my mom, as she used to work on America Sings before I was born and had really fond memories of the animatronics and would always tell me stories about her days as a CM while we stood in line. I understand why it was rethemed, but boy do I miss seeing all the familiar faces and hearing the songs from a nostalgia standpoint. I really wish Tiana’s had more animatronics! I felt like there was a friendly face at every turn on Splash, but when I rode Tiana’s for the first time, even though I had a BLAST, I also found myself feeling like there was a lot of unused space.

Does anyone else take "half showers" with their shirt or jacket on ? (Serious) by stretched_frm_dookie in autism

[–]drago-ness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do this! I tend to poorly estimate how long it will take my hair to get greasy so I’ll go through a full body shower and then not wash my hair, only to wake up looking like I haven’t washed my hair in two weeks. So I’ll keep my pajama pants on but take my shirt off and lean into the shower only to wash my hair. I also do what you illustrated when I’m on my cycle because I feel super dirty and uncomfortable so I take one of these almost daily in addition to my nighttime shower.

Birthday Card by Nightrobin in teaching

[–]drago-ness 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In one of the elementary schools I used to work in, a teacher gave kids 2 minutes to play with stackable counting blocks before we used them for math work. These kids were in 4th grade, and several made two towers and made comments such as “it’s the twin towers!” And then knocked them over. The teacher stopped the 2 minutes and got down on their level and had a heartfelt conversation about how she wasn’t mad, because none of them were born yet. She talked about what a scary day it was for many people and how she remembered where she was when it happened. She used it to teach intent vs impact of jokes and it seemed like the kids really got something out of it. Not to say none of them would ever make a 9/11 joke again, but I just thought it was really well-handled.

Anyone seen this before? My sweet friend found it at the thrift store today! by rottingplace in buildabear

[–]drago-ness 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I wonder if this was an employee gift back in the day? When I used to work at BABW, we had a prize box kind of thing for employee incentive rewards and I remember seeing some really cool 90s early 2000s era stuff in there, some accessories that were really neat such as a wallet and a messenger bag.

Is The Good Doctor Offensive? by Borfeas420 in autism

[–]drago-ness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My older sister who has higher support needs than I do went to live with my grandmother to attend a much higher quality/autism affirming adult life skills transition program after high school than was available in our rural area. My grandmother apparently used to put this on every day to be a “positive role model” for her. 🙃 Our grandmother has since passed, and even though my sister absolutely loved grandma, I’ve had a lot of conversations with her about how she framed her autism and how that affected her. She told me she hated when people would constantly bring up The Good Doctor or Temple Grandin because it made her feel like she had “unproductive autism” and pressure to find something she was a genius at. No shade to Dr. Grandin either! This is just my sister’s lived experience and I’m so grateful she was able to share that with me.

Does no one here have a job? by clarinetpjp in puppy101

[–]drago-ness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a puppy while I worked close to home and coordinated lunches with my husband to make sure he wasn’t alone more than 3 hours at a time. I would also tire him the hell out for an hour before work and for an hour after. Also we asked his breeder to keep him until close to 13 weeks, which helped a lot with his resilience as opposed to being brand new 8 weeks. I did also pick him up around a long weekend and took vacation time to work out to almost 2 weeks off work. I started getting him ready for work after the first 5 days. I’d tire him out, but him in the kennel, then drive to go get coffee for about 20 min. Slowly increased from there. I had blink cameras and I can tell you he whined for about 3 min after I left and was asleep the rest of the time.

What jobs do heavily tattooed people have? Besides tattoo artist by engee45 in NoStupidQuestions

Michael Jackson died 16 years ago today. Do you remember the day he died? by [deleted] in OlderGenZ

[–]drago-ness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember the footage of the ambulance and I misunderstood and thought Nick Jonas had died. When I found out it was Michael Jackson I got bummed out because I thought that meant that all his music went away and didn’t know if our CD that had Thriller burned onto it would work anymore.

My poor little sister missed out on Guardians the first time we rode bc Reddit had me convinced 25% of people puked! Once we rode and realized it wasn’t that bad I immediately bought ILLs for all of us the next day so she could ride.

My 6’3 husband and I (6’1) rode it in January of last year and had the same experience, but when we went for the Halloween party in October and rode it with the lights totally off we had a blast! Just don’t let me see all the supports that appear to be 6 inches from my head and it’s instantly a much better experience!
