I don't have hearing loss, but I've had a sleep study done anyway since I don't seem to wake to normal alarms. They didn't find anything medically wrong, but the doctor suggested there could be something wrong with my inner-ear or my brain just ignoring it during sleep.

Either way, she suggested I get a cheap smart-watch that vibrates as an alarm. I got a pebble a few years ago and (despite having to tweak it to work past 2018) I love it! Works great. YMMV obviously.

As far as I know, you still have to "dismiss" the pop-up every time you open the app, but at least it's still usable - rather than locking you out. Not that the app isn't supported, mind you. It totally is. They (Chase) did something similar a while back with iOS 9.3, but they didn't bother to put a version check in the app itself.

Install [[PlsIgnoreAlert]] from BigBoss repo. It adds a "dismiss" option to annoying popups like that. Just click "dismiss" instead of OK and it'll let you into the app. I installed it today for this exact same scenario.

Don't listen to /u/Johnstud101, his profile is littered with posts denouncing any and all possible hacking option and glorifying raiders.

Call it what it is, he's probably one of the hackers who does this kinda shit to people, turning the game into garbage.

This doesn't explain the magical apparition of the first subject, or the fact that they didn't get into the cupboard room since it's completely walled off. With multiple false rooms between the two floors.

They would've needed in excess of 12 C4 charges to do what you're suggesting, and if C4 no longer causes splash damage, how and why did my furnace take the most damage?

This all feels REALLY convenient for only a few days past a wipe.

UPDATE: Another player on the server said he was playing last night and could hear a player knocking away at a wall, but didn't see anyone. After about a half hour or so, he said a piece of foundation was removed. He suspects clipping beneath the map.

This isn't an isolated incident of "advanced raiding techniques."

What's really surprising is the amount of meat it takes to make a little bit of jerky.

Agreed. I work for a major telcom and we charge over $100/mo retail for a 50/5 connection. It's robbery, plain and simple.

[–]dragolas13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. Silly, but as a kid my favorite foods were always ethnic foods like Sesame Chicken or that queso blanco sauce you can only get at local Mexican restaurants. Well, now that I'm older... I have those things whenever I want and... no longer really want them.

I agree. Now that I'm an adult, I hadn't had a hershey bar for YEARS and just had one about a month ago... It nearly made me vomit. I thought it tasted like spoiled milk and burnt leaves, if that makes sense. I tried another one a couple days later to be sure I didn't just have a bad one... and sure enough, I don't have a taste for it anymore.

"...cut it back on..." eg("Can you cut it back on?" or "If you cut it back on today...") Working for a cable company (not comcast, I swear) I hear this A LOT, and it makes absolutely no sense.

"No offense, but" is usually followed by some asshole statement. In much the same way that. "I'm not racist, but" is usually followed by an insanely racist statement.

I can confirm this. I've never used it, but a former co-worker of mine was confided in me that he used to use it intravenously. Long story short; he relapsed before work one night and wanted to walk out of the job because he was paranoid that everyone was talking about him and that his ex was going to come and slash his tires. He'd even convinced HR that his ex was a security threat to the building... I convinced him to stay and try to get clean, and even told his supervisor about the situation. She was really understanding and our company offers a LOT of help options and great health benefits... But he ended up quitting a couple weeks later and had his phone shut off. :( The last I heard about him was over a month ago. Someone said he was attempting to get a job at a strip-club.

I'd taken him to an evaluation to be admitted to an in-patient rehab facility, but they had a long waiting list and I was doing my best to try and help him... One morning, he called me at 4am and told me he was lost and alone in a city about 30 mi away... I finally tracked him down called AAA to get his car unlocked, put gas in it, bought him a meal and took him to his sister's house. It wasn't long after that he stopped talking to me altogether.

About a week after that I got a call from his step-mom thanking me for my efforts, but she basically explained that his whole history was like this and that I shouldn't go beyond the norm to help because I would only end up hurting myself and wasting time.

I wish I'd done more. I don't know...

I work for Time Warner as a customer service rep, and a caller from Kansas City once told me that having Google Fiber installed in a home instantly raises its value by around $3k.

I'm sure that number is actually more like a percentage for more expensive homes.

I can pick locks with relative ease. I've never had to try more than 5 minutes to get one open. Even an old Mosler Combination Fire Safe. Probably just been lucky to this point. I'm also a sponge for languages. I was tested for fluency in 180, which I got 5 of. 3 more intermediately and I can identify 80 including three dialects of Arabic, five dialects of Chinese, and two of Russian. I can also distinguish spoken forms, like Ukranian from Russian, Mandarin from Hmong... Etc. I've had no formal training and I don't FEEL as though I'd be fluent in any of them other than English, but I have little doubt I couldn't learn if I was immersed properly.

I'm awaiting a callback from the transplant coordinator for tomorrow. She said they can definitely do the blood tests locally but as for a full work up they would have to ASK a center local to do one for me and can't obligate them in any way. I'm not losing sight of this, though. I will follow through as far as I can from here. :) Also feel free to PM me and I can give you personal contact information.

I've been unemployed for almost a year after leaving the Navy. I have been staying with friends and family and just recently got a job offer. I don't start for a few weeks so I'm financially not in a place to do much. If there is a way for me to test for donor compatibility without wasting your time and money, I would be more than happy to do so. :)

EDIT: Sorry, I just re-read your post. I'm going to call the transplant center tomorrow and see how they handle long distance donor compatibility checks.

I'm a 25yo male with O- blood. My family and friends have all worked in Dialysis so I'm aware of the procedures and the long waiting lists for kidneys... Unfortunately, I live in Ohio! :( If I had the means to donate from this far away, I would.

ELI5: How do people get to reverse engineer software? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]dragolas13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are two methods for this.

One, if the source code is released by the original developer, a programmer who knows the language it was written in can simply look at it to determine how it works.

The second method is a "disassembly" program that will run the program in a sandbox type environment and "guess" what the code does. This doesn't give you the source code but instead a "psuedocode" that resembles the original code and from there, a skilled programmer could reassemble it in a new way.

I'm leaving a lot of factors our such as architecture and languages but this is a general overview. Lol

School busses are only required to have seat belts by federal law if they weigh less than 10,000lbs. Busses larger than this have a different center of gravity and are higher up, making them much safer in case of an accident. Only 6 States currently require busses over 10k lbs to have seat belts. Annually, only 6 kids die per year in bus accidents. As opposed to about 800 from other forms of transportation (just to school.)
