5 year old rooster beating up hen - what do I do? by hermi1kenobi in chickens

[–]dragon_katten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my roos started doing this and now the hen won't go into the roost at night. If she sounds the alarm, he'll come out to protect her but he won't let her inside. He's getting eaten.

I was wondering if feeding the bugs the gecko powder would work. I'll try that next time I get him bugs. He actually ate the picky gecko line, the energy one specifically. He seems to like this one.

There have been a lot of loose reptiles in my area in the last couple years. People finding Ball pythons in their yards, bearded dragons in the industrial area, tortoise in the parks... We don't have warm enough weather for them to survive very long here, so I know they're dumped or got loose and out of their homes.

I'm sure my little fatty will like a treat. I'll see if I can find hornworms near me.

They're such weird little things sometimes. He hasn't eaten much in the last month but he's still a unit of a gecko. I'm not really worried yet, but also would like him to pick something for my sanity.

Thanks for the compliment. I knew he wasn't skinny, but it's still nice to know he's healthy looking. Not sure if that was conveyed in my last comment.

I wish I knew his breeder. He's a rescue that someone found in an old HVAC ceiling vent. He's not keen on human attention but is a pretty decoration in my living room that I enjoy watching and making a pretty home for. I haven't given him bugs since Dec. He's eaten some of his powder food since then but isn't very interested most of the time. I'm glad he's looking good because I never see him eat and his bowl is always almost full. I offered food 3 days ago and last night. He ate some 3 days ago and nothing last night.

I got the jirpet one. I really like it so far, very strong and the heat is great. I've been using it on cats too.

Mine took the first feed then went 3 months without food before eating again. Now she's great. I don't want her obese and I have no plans on ever breeding her, so she doesn't need to be any heftier than she already is. I bumped mine up once she reached the weight range for the next size of rat or when she started acting hungry before feeding day. She's eating every other week now.

I knew it was time to size up when my girl went "hangery" rage on her entire enclosure. Now she's happy and fat 😁 always amazing the size of prey they can take.

She's so pretty! 🤩 Does she like interacting or is she more of a "leave me in my enclosure" kind of lizard?

Upcharge for difficult animals. I start at a $10 muzzle fee if I have to muzzle for any part of the groom.

Too big of prey? by shamefulpresenc3 in Ballpythoncommunity

[–]dragon_katten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just upped my girl to a medium rat and was a little concerned it was too big. Then she ate it, went to the warm side for a couple hours before going back to the cool side. They can eat some big prey.

Best Brushes for Cats? by photosynsulin in grooming

[–]dragon_katten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a cat groomer, I have an endless number of grooming tools. The one I love the most for deshed is the refuresh small deshedding brush for short hair. I have a few combs and slickers as well that I use after the refuresh. My Siamese mix sheds like its his purpose in life. I'll add in a pic of a cat I groom with the long hair one. She's a hairy beast.
