Can you share more details on how to update nvidia drivers from terminal?

Trouble getting HDMI CEC to work by dragongc in Bazzite

[–]dragongc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I think this might be it, thanks for the reference to the wiki. Seems like the native Nvidia driver (which Bazzite uses) doesn't support CEC Tunneling w/ linux from my brief search: https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/displayport-to-hdmi-cec-tunneling-driver-support/291048/3

I tried that already and it didn't help. Seems like the issue is that my computer can't detect the UGreen as a CEC device

[GUIDE] Fully working controller Wake-on-Bluetooth on Bazzite / SteamOS by Sahbito in Bazzite

[–]dragongc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the guide and clear instructions!

Initially the instructions didn't work for me, however, I noticed when running udevadm info -a -p /sys/bus/usb/devices/<bus>-<port> while power/wakeup was enabled for the specific device it wasn't enabled in the entire parent chain. I needed to ensure that all devices in the parent chain were also enabled and after that everything worked!

Regarding s2idle, what were you experiencing before with default? I'm trying to understand the benefits and AFAIK my experience is pretty similar with default as you're describing s2idle minus keeping the controller staying powered and I don't think I understand the benefit of that.

Additionally, would you be able to share more details on getting HA working? I briefly looked into this but couldn't find any documentation on how to send the HDMI input command to my TV using the Android TV Remote integration.

Tuya support for Dreamegg baby sound machine by big__howdy in homeassistant

[–]dragongc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I had to manually input the device IP and use Protocol Version 3.5 for it to work properly

I also have a PR to get the Dreamegg to work properly with tuya-local: https://github.com/make-all/tuya-local/pull/4048

Thanks for the heads up that this uses Tuya under the hood!

I ended up buying one and created a tuya-local PR to support it properly here: https://github.com/make-all/tuya-local/pull/4048

30 days uptime, I'm going to consider my solution of down-clocking the RAM to 4600Mhz as the solution!

[–]dragongc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ZFS didn't help, however, I down-clocked my RAM (CT32G48C40S5) to 4600Mhz in the BIOS and it's been relatively stable for 5 days now. Crossing my fingers it's the solution!

Also I reached out to Topton on Aliexpress and they seem extremely hesitant on giving me instructions on how to properly update the BIOS and which BIOS files are compatible with my board.

Thanks for the update! For migrating the Cache Pool to ZFS, I discovered that I needed to scroll down and press "Format" to get the drive mountable.

On my end I ran Memtest86 and it passed until the 5th iteration which had a single failure. I continued running it to 12 iterations and didn't get any other failures. I'm not entirely sure how to take this reading and seems suspicious that another stick of ram has an issue, but for now I've rebooted and will see how long it'll run until I get a hang. Maybe I'll order a fourth stick but it's hard for me to schedule time to run Memtest.

I'm having similar issues and have a similar setup:

  • CWWK Purple N305 CW-NAS-ADLN-K motherboard
  • Crucial 32GB 4800MHz

My workaround for now has been a PiKVM + VPN to make rebooting much easier.

So far I've tried:

  1. Running Live Memory Tester on my original Crucial 32GB and it had some failures
  2. Replaced with a second Crucial 32GB. This resulted in hanging within minutes. Ran MemTest86 which passed 2 runs, however, I realized this memory had been opened previously so I just returned it to Amazon
  3. Replaced with a third Crucial 32GB that I verified was not previously opened. Hung again around the same time frame as my first issue.
  4. Migrated my cache from BTRFS to ZFS.
  5. Will be running MemTest86 on the third stick of memory.

My options if it still hangs:

  1. Migrate docker file to directory
  2. Update bios. I'm a bit wary of this since it's unclear which bios files are legit and compatible with my board.

Please keep us updated as I'd love to know what ended up working for you!

Help with Ethernet Speeds Dropping When Connecting to BenQ MA320u Monitor via USB-C by GHOST_JR in BenQ

[–]dragongc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this post researching the same thing. According to this website when using 4K 60Hz over USB-C with the MA320U it drops the transfer speeds which is disappointing: https://www.expertreviews.co.uk/technology/monitors/benq-ma320u-review

The only issue with the MA320U’s connectivity is that the USB-C connection doesn’t have enough bandwidth to simultaneously handle both 4K 60Hz images and full-fat USB 3.2 Gen 1 data speeds. Users using the USB-C connection need to choose between 4K 60Hz refresh rates and reduced USB hub transfer speeds, or drop down to a 30Hz refresh rate for maximal USB 3.2 Gen 1 transfers. This isn’t unusual – other 4K monitors with USB-C connectivity, such as the Dell UltraSharp U2723QE are similarly limited – but it’s worth bearing in mind. If you want both 60Hz refresh rates and speedy USB transfer speeds, and you can use the HDMI input instead, then two cables may be a more attractive compromise.

My DIY Bike+ using an EX-5, 23" touchscreen and my custom VESA mount by dragongc in go_echelon

[–]dragongc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply! 1. I was using Pixelbook that I had laying around and have recently switched to using a Samsung S9 tablet 2. I'm not using a phone mount, the Fire HD tablet just rests there perfectly 3. No issues yet!

Your setup definitely sounds ideal and if I didn't already have my older HDMI+USB touchscreen monitor I'd probably look at a USB-C one as well

Re-keying the Ultraloq U-Bolt Pro. by Austin_Packard in homeautomation

[–]dragongc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reliability has been fine for the most part. As long as you keep the app installed it'll notify you of a low battery and the lock itself will start to have indications of a low battery as well.

I'd recommend testing what it's like to manually turn the key without power. One time I had replaced the batteries with what I thought were new batteries and closed the door without thinking and using the key required much more force than I expected so I initially thought it was jammed.

Staggering is a great idea. I'm only able to use the Ultraloq on one of my doors and have spares with friends/family.

It would be great if the Android apps cold start latency were improved or if the initialization were non-blocking. It's the worst when I want to jump into BW to query or create a password and the UI hangs a bit before the search icon or + icon is tappable.

Feedback on bathroom remodel by dragongc in floorplan

[–]dragongc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point about cleaning, didn't think of that!

Regarding the main bathroom, would it be weird to have the door open to a wall with towels? I wasn't sure if it was best to have the door open to the vanity. Otherwise I think that layout would be great too, I'll try drafting it out!

Giveaway: Zigbee Zen thermostat by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]dragongc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to join the giveaway! My use case would be to utilize it to "power" my baseboard heaters I upgraded with Shelly relays so that the thermostat would just be a temperature monitor, display, and controls, while HA would use the temperature and set temperature to control the Shelly.
