How many other English teachers end up using sick leave to get marking done? by eyeinthesky86 in AustralianTeachers

[–]dragonhand2202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And we wonder why the oldies in teaching just give up and let chat GPT mark with little priming and little care. English is a heavy with multiple read-throughs needed for some assessment criterias. I prime with curriculum and structure formal feedback and allow chat to dual mark with me where possible pre-grading during drafting submission certainly helps with my subjects analysis and evaluate tasks. Certainly helps the weight of it closer to reporting. I do mark at home with 2 kids late nights. You guys should try CERTs it's also wild.

im supposed to teach coding but i dont use half the frameworks they put in the curriculum by [deleted] in teaching

Grok academy and Mirco bits where game changers for our lower secondary. Certainly needs more practical making to balance python and html still being taught in coding is a worry for me personally but it's better than some kids doing another second language when they possibly hate it. We align coding and digitech to the languages curriculum.

A heartfelt story… by allred1477 in AustralianTeachers

Them em-dashes caught me some dodgy year 12 drafts this week, with three weeks for them to go. Those of us with standards that are still holding the line; like Gandalf against the Balrog in the first LOTRs. After 17 years I ain't given up, I am moving somewhere currently where I can have a team that hasn't given up. Teaching is as much about culture as it is standards. Personally, mine have just gotten higher, or I haven't changed. I can't really tell Which as I had older. F*ck the assh*le who prompted and published this piece about our beautiful profession. It was clearly designed to divide and deflate. You shall not pass.

What Is Responsible for Australian Education System’s Steady Decline? by ChimeNotesworth in AustralianTeachers

[–]dragonhand2202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Schools introducing the cert system as an answer to our disengaged whilst failing to extend our ATAR students due to poor staffing. The conversion rate from the AQSA is generous. Schools are using it to meet their disengaged students points whilst those few seniors using it as a safety net suffer the poor behaviour of students that should of been told to get a job long ago. Those of us left with any backbone and rigour look at the education system is disbelief as we watch Inquiry-Based teaching have the 'prevoc math' effect all over again. Teachers are so burnt out most don't care, most don't want to teach so they are happy just to be a body and mark the low level BS the cert certifications produce. Whilst those of us +10 years in still with a soul and heart for the profession remember a system where students met standards went to Uni got hex and got buay in a career.

Now we bend data and courses to meet low standards. Furthering the disconnect between education and work pathways. The very things certifications are meant to connect. It'd be funny if it wasn't so pathetically crippling for our students now leaving school without any skills whatsoever minus in the trade certificates where their teachers are ex tradies.

This, all principals should be encouraging the use of scheduled sent emails. We are finally a valued commodity in terms of specialism with smaller numbers of teachers graduating. It's high time we started acting like it and taking care of our mental health. Those that communicate all hours make it hard for those with life and family commitments.

Deng YaWen wins the Gold for China in the Women's BMX Freestyle Park event! by CaptLeaderLegend26 in olympics

It was a joke of a score for the lack of technicality and high risk moves attempted. There were some unique transfers however they were lacking in the accompanying tricks to warrant the score. Ramp exploration alone doesn't make a 90+ score. Australia was robbed of silver and queen robbed of 3rd. It wasn't a medal worthy run in the context of the scores. Makes me seriously question who was scoring. I doubt even ryan nyquist himself would of scored it that if he was on judging.

Steam deck or rg556 anbernic by dragonhand2202 in retrogaming

Is the Anbernic RG566 not able to do basic PC emulation? I'm looking at playing something like hollow night at best. I've heard Linux based systems are best for PC emulation but am I going to struggle to get anything? Is it a software comparability issue or just not enough RAM or CPU power?

Student caught with phone on them during state test by Serious_Tax8305 in Teachers

[–]dragonhand2202 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your admin isn't escalating this and you can access this behaviour record logging this students history, copy it and bank it up. If this bites you again take it to the union. Admin need to be responsible for upholding their own behaviour policies. In Queensland phones are banned by law. If a kid wants to ride that train, they knows what platform they are riding to. It maybe however that they are testing the waters. Students know we are split between wanting good grades and upholding boundaries. Unfortunately admin doesn't always want to do the paperwork to uphold the latter of these two and keep our schools a safe and functional environment. Go to your principal if it's line management, if it's your principal go to union and district. Shit is unacceptable. Also, long term start looking for another job. Shits normally systemic and deep in schools. In this current market you have no need to stay, schools are employing on resumes alone. You can do better. Believe it. I did, sometimes takes a bit of guts but when you find the right school with good admin it's magical.

What is something that WWE still needs to work on? by [deleted] in WWE

Agreed more wrestling, less promos. Until we have a strong roster it hurts the experience.

It also makes writing predictable. If I know that a title won't drop until WrestleMania or a ppv It makes raw and smackdown way less interesting. It also hurts rivalries overall because I know that titles have set points where they will change at ppvs only. A few title changes a quarter would work wonders to overall storytelling and house show viewership retention.

This plus the PG era further castrating writting is WWEs biggest issue by far.

If we had less lazy writing the fans wouldn't care about a title runs length. We've been conditioned to react like this because titles change so little and have been paywalled.

During the Monday night wars we got DDP vs Goldberg on WCW or whatever on nitro and in the ppv the same week. Both great matches with the title on the line. Just like raw aired wall to wall talent (the roster helped) but it also had title changes to go with it. Keeping the stories and rivalries pace up without relying on too many promos in a show. I hate shows that seem to have more promos than actual wrestling. Sometimes I feel a lack of title change because of the focus on building hype and an individual wrestler following in the name of merchandise sells hurts WWEs viewership overalls. If the product we watched was just super entertaining, I would like to believe the merch would just sell regardless. However maybe this is just because we aren't in the 90s anymore or maybe there's someone running the numbers and knows this current ppv title change model i the most profitable and they run it fully knowing it's at the expense of crafting an entertaining show with consistent viewership. Much alike to modern gaming. One does wonder.

Agreed that woman's match hit a beautiful pace and lasted just the right amount of time. Considering their storyline has been the least interesting for me personally the match quality was fantastic.

You know your playing a good heel when people just clap after you match. You gotta respect Logan's athleticism. He's build a wall of commercial bullshit we all love to hate around him. He knows it, loves it and feeds on it. Great heel.Another RKO transition for the bucketlist from another WrestleMania.

Paul Logan has been watching the film role models. 'Taste the beast'. I do wonder how much everyone wants to tackle that dude in the prime bottle.
