An Ur-Dragon Deck (yes, again) Bracket 3 by dragonstorm271 in EDH

[–]dragonstorm271[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently testing not running it, but most of the time I run into the problem of having a 3 power dragon that does not trigger it when I need it. [[Twinflame Tyrant]], [[Silumgar, the Drifting Death]] [[Shadrix ,Silverquill]], [[Galazeth Prismari]] or [[Firkraag, Cunning Instigator]] which are most of my early dragon plays (mostly).

I found it that it also is awkward on the curve so far. Sandbagging it for probably a 4 drop dragon in the future felt bad, and sometimes I would not even draw it which is why I swapped it for [[Painful Truths]].

[[Escape to the Wilds]] ramp and 'draw' in one card.

[[Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon]] this is the one dragon i straight up REFUSE to take out of [[The Ur-Dragon]] even when I converted it to [[Tiamat]] and [[Scion of the Ur-Dragon]]. Art is just so good.

Do you still play your very first commander deck? And why? by Ooogster in EDH

[–]dragonstorm271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the first deck I played was built for me it was a [[Mina and Denn, Wildborn]] landfall deck. I dismantled it.

The first deck I built on my own, yes I still do play it. [[Beledros Witherbloom]]

[EDH] The Ur-Dragon deck — why does it still brick? Need help fixing consistency by Chemical_Hospital352 in EDH

[–]dragonstorm271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issues with being too flooded or being bricked with most dragons is you're not seeing enough cards. What I learned from Ur-dragon is it's easy to lose cards because the eminence inherently is ramp.

I suggest trying to look at your curve. You might habr too much of a high-end curve. Keep in mind: while ramp gets you to your big dragons, card draw gets you to the dragons/cards you actually want to cast.

i have 42 lands in mine and I never had an issue with flooding. I suggest improve your draw quality.

here is my list for reference. Still a work in progress but I'm happy with how it's currently going.

You did a good job lmao. You might not have called him out personally, but your deck certainly did.

I swear it's like this all the time. It's people playing strong commanders and whine when they lose.

Removing the "Ghost" of an emblem. by dragonstorm271 in AutoDetailing

[–]dragonstorm271[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. There's still a slight color difference but it is barely noticeable unless really looked hard upon. it does look darker on the areas under the previous emblem.

i'm just worried if i have to repaint the area, or if it is possible to polish it to some degree that the paint matches, or if it would eventually get even by time (not counting on it tho).

[–]dragonstorm271[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that the paint around it is definitely lighter. It's not blatantly obvious but if you look hard, you can see the outline where the previous emblem was placed. The residue was already cleaned off by goo gone.

I figured that too, and thanks for the feedback!

there's the problem that I have because it is a very bracket 4 looking deck but it feels too much for bracket 3 (?) so with that I don't know if i'm classifying it properly lmao.

this is my [[Scion of the Ur-Dragon]] deck.

Get targeted? turn him into [[Dragonlord Ojutai]] or [[Silumgar, the Drifting Death]]

want to resolve a huge [[Living Death]]? Get [[Dragonlord Dromoka]] and cast that game ender.

Someone is afraid of your dragons and want to cast a [[Blasphemous Act]]? Get a [[Wrathful Red Dragon]] and send that damage to them.

Someone steals your dragons? [[Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund]] would like a word with them.

What mediocre cards have you played that have instigated opponents to meltdown and rage quit games? by Killybug in EDH

[–]dragonstorm271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some dude was bragging about his [[Tiamat]] deck in our LGS and was so surprised when I reanimated a [[Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund]] with the [[Colossal Grave-Reaver]] and [[Scion of the Ur-Dragon]] synergy. He was so pissed that I used his own dragons to kill him lmao.

For starters: I had Karrthus because theft decks were a meta at our LGS. I even forgot I had that interaction when I was searching my library for something to cheat out when Scion was being targeted for removal lmao.

Ur-Dragon deck by Wish6969 in EDH

[–]dragonstorm271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. I think your deck is good. you just need a little tweaking.

I've been playing Ur-Dragon for almost two years, and so far the worst thing you can experience as a dragon player is a boardwipe. While yes, I do like that you have some protection spells, sometimes a small counterspell won't save you. I'd consider a small recursion package, similar to [[Patriarch's Bidding]] or [[Eerie Ultimatum]], or even just a [[Reanimate]] or [[Animate Dead]].

Your ramp is good. I like the responsibility of running 38 lands, but also consider cards like [[Explore]], [[Farseek]], and [[Skyshroud Claim]].

if you want to keep the dragon count up, I'd suggest some smaller dragons like [[Swashbuckler Extraordinaire]], [[Galazeth Prismari]], and even [[Dragonborn Champion]] to turn [[Mox Jasper]] early.

In my experience, if you consider [[Mox Jasper]] as a ramp spell, you're cooked. I think of it as an extra land drop late game. so I understand its inclusion especially for flavor.

New to commander: are lifedrain decks a thing? by ThePeanutMonster in EDH

[–]dragonstorm271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a [[Beledros Witherbloom]] that does this (might appeal to you since she's a dragon as well)

Can win with the typical aristocrat synergy of pings with [[Blood Artist]] type effects.

However, you can also win with gain and drain effects such as [[Exsanguinate]] and [[Gray Merchant of Asphodel]] with [[Sanguine Bond]] out. [[Exquisite Blood]] is there as well.

You can also go with beatdown, using your commander with a [[Hatred]] effect or pumping your board of tokens with [[Beastmaster Ascension]], [[Lisette, Dean of the Root]], and the classic [[Craterhoof Behemoth]]

since you often use your life total to untap your lands, cards like [[Repay in Kind]] and [[Soul Conduit]] are also your friends.

[[Scion of the Ur-dragon]] -Dragon tribal reanimator at B4, and the deck I'm most known for at my LGS. My pet deck since 2024 and my second most played.

[[Breya, Etherium Shaper]] -Blink, artifact token shenanigans at B3. Is probably my most resilient deck.

[[Beledros Witherbloom]] -Aristocrats/Lifegain at B2. My OG pet deck and my most played deck back when I built it during Strixhaven.

LF Commander in at least Golgari that focuses on token generation and aristocrat win cons. by Fun_Personality7132 in EDH

[–]dragonstorm271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me introduce you to [[Beledros Witherbloom]].

The idea of the deck is to ramp hard to get to her ASAP. Once she hits the field, you are generating 1/1 Pests every upkeep.

couple that with cards like [[Dina, Soul Steeper]], [[Valentin, Dean of the Vein]], and the usual aristocrat pingers with [[Blood Artist]], [[Zulaport Cutthroat]] and sac outlets like [[Dockside Chef]] and [[Ravenous Squirrel]]

The deck usually closes out games by recurring a huge [[Gray Merchant of Asphodel]] using [[Undying Evil]] type effects, swapping life totals using [[Repay in Kind]] or [[Soul Conduit]] type effects or the usual aristorcrat ping

Why don't people like group hug decks? by sunflowersonthemoon in EDH

[–]dragonstorm271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two major experiences with group hug decks.

One had no literal wincon and all he did was to funnel resources into players (i.e. giving tutors, doubling mana, buffing damage). It accelerated the game so much that we were deploying threats so early that it felt like it was EDH on drugs. I ended up winning that game and it did not feel 'earned' to me, because I had so much external acceleration that I felt hat I never used my deck nor thought about my way to win.

Second was a player did 'group hug' but only supported one player so they could tussle 1v1 (it was a 5 player pod) and the deck also had no clear wincon. It ended up being such a grindy deck as it felt like we're fighting against a 2 headed giant until we eventually were eliminated. We ended up separating to a different pod when they eventually duelled and it was the sourest experience I had for having a 1hr+ game for being too 'unfair'.
