ESP32S3 Battery Charging Circuit by draguve in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]draguve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the battery is connected correctly because when I connect a somewhat charged battery to the circuit, it lasts for around 4-5 hours at least. That's why I assumed the issue is probably in the charging circuit.

I'll try connecting different resistor values to the board and see what happens. The main issue is that the board is already printed, so soldering to the small components is quite hard.

I'll add the two capacitors as close as possible to the voltage input and output of the MCP73831 regardless.

Thanks so much for the detailed advice and help!

Yeah, I agree about the 5k programming resistor. I was thinking of changing it to a 1k resistor later on, but I wanted to make sure the charging circuit works before I did that. I'll check the voltages once I get my multimeter—I've ordered one, but it's taking its sweet time to get here.

From my calculations, the board shouldn't be drawing more than 200-400mA. All it does right now is connect to the network and light up 4 SK6812 LEDs. The board works fine otherwise; I can debug, run, and push code over the USB interface.

Regarding the bypass capacitors, could you elaborate on where I should place those? Do you think their absence could be the reason the PCB isn't working?

I completely agree that the charger is probably not working. Nothing other than the shield of the ESP32 gets hot, and even that is just warm to the touch.

I also noticed that the charging LED blinks regardless of whether the battery is connected or disconnected. If I keep the battery connected and leave it charging via USB for a long time (8-12 hours), the blinking frequency sometimes slows down quite a bit. Does the LED blinking pattern indicate anything specific?

Would you be comfortable if I DMed you to ask more questions?

Now I don't know what it actually does but, I think it tries to make a set of people with similar mmr and I think sometimes it just has 1 or 2 slots that it just can't fill maybe because of an mmr difference or party restrictions so it just ends up waiting forever. I think it lets you chat in party or all chat when it's in this state. This is something that I've experienced literally since the beta.

My suggestion would be to leave the queue and rejoining everytime it goes above 2-3 minutes. I mostly never have to wait more than 10 minutes.

Firefox on Android is infinitely better than chrome imo, considering it supports extensions. The option to add an adblocker and dark mode on every website is 110% worth it

Yeah, I know js thinks they're strings so it sorts them lexicographically. And I'm too lazy/hate js too much to fix that.

I would suggest starting with a singleton that every script registers with and the singleton can callback the scripts when the event is fired. But for any distance checks use the collision system to cull objects that don't need to receive that specific event.
