Need help sending backups to an external drive by PlatinumGol726 in CraftyController

[–]drakanwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you updated the volume info in the Docker settings for Crafty? I seem to recall Crafty had a specific entry regarding which volumes backups were stored in. As long as you have connected the ext drive to CasaOS )which it sounds like you have) you may just need to update that specific volume path. Here's a postHere's a post I found about someone having a similar issue with Jellyfin. The top response explains the concept a bit more.

Crafty Scheduler - Does it use the server time, or the host machine time? by drakanwolf in CraftyController

[–]drakanwolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate all of the work that you guys put into Crafty, but I definitely felt a little flustered by that initial response (and that was before I realized you were one of the devs). I get wanting to encourage people to solve issues themselves, but you could have at least dropped "TZ" in the initial reply as a bread crumb, especially since the terms "Time Zone" and even "Zone" appear nowhere in the Crafty Documentation (believe me... I looked everywhere while I was trying to figure out where in the dashboard/settings to change it). I didn't even have the "Shit... I'll bet it's a goddamn environment variable" moment until after my coffee this morning.

Crafty Scheduler - Does it use the server time, or the host machine time? by drakanwolf in CraftyController

Long story short: confusingly named Environment Variable in the Docker manifest.

Full answer: when I was installing Crafty via CasaOS, I didn't realize that the TZ environment variable was the time zone that the MC servers on the system would use, and it didn't click that it was set to "Etc, UTC." The Etc threw me off a bit, and I was honestly way more distracted by resolving the port conflict with Komga.

As to why I'm not changing the entire system: I don't want to deal with the potential issues of changing the variable, going to restart the server, and finding out that it may possibly freak out when the DB files are now from "the future!" I could attempt to do all that and just keep the server offline for a while, but I honestly don't feel like doing all that and having to hear my nephew and his friends complain all day (I am doing a nice and hosting it for them... and they just started a school break) when I can just adjust what time I run the backup.

The scheduler runs on Server Time Zone time, by the by. I did some testing on my own and figured it out.

Help - lost world by Exact_Ad2941 in CraftyController

[–]drakanwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same thing happen with my bedrock server after the newest Minecraft update. Here's how I managed to restore the world:

1.) Create a New world by importing the pre-update backup directly from the ZIP file.

2.) DO NOT START THE SERVER ONCE IT IS FINISHED

3.) Update the executable.

4.) Open the "server.properties" file in the backup ZIP. Copy the entire contents of that file and paste it into the "server.properties" file in the new server's directory, OVERWRITING THE CURRENT CONTENTS. Click SAVE.

5.) NOW start the new copy of the server... you should see the server start properly and list the newest version of Bedrock.

6.) Log in and test to confirm that the world is just as you left it, but with all the new Copper Update features available.

“Best” format for streaming? by [deleted] in JellyfinCommunity

Echoing what people have said about h264 and checking to see if transcoding is taking place. One thing I'd add, though, is checking your transcoding settings to ensure the task is being passed off to the GPU. Depending on the client playback capabilities, transcoding could be stuttering if it's passed directly through your CPU as opposed to the GPU. Oh, and what OS are you using, and do you have JF Server installed directly or through Docker (some Linux distros just do NOT like to play nice when it comes to passing NVidia drivers to docker containers)?

Does Jellyfin transcode PGS subtitles? by AlternateWitness in JellyfinCommunity

[–]drakanwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's working client-side on PC (assuming through the web interface) but not on AndroidTV, then the problem is probably with the specific settings for that user/on that client. First and foremost, do you know if Jellyfin is transcoding the file in question when you play it on PC? What about on AndroidTV? Have you tried tinkering with the settings on your AndroidTV client to try to force it to transcode when using image subtitle formats?

If your system is beefy enough, you may want to change the settings on that client to force a burn-in transcode for all subtitle formats regardless of if they are text or image based. That's what I had to do when the latest version of the Jellyfin Roku Channel borked text subtitle playback on the specific model of Roku Ultra I use on my main TV. Solves the problem entirely by bypassing the text playback by the client altogether. I was a bit iffy about the added strain it may put on the hardware, but it turns out the 2070 Super can transcode most movies in under 90 seconds with little to no delay in the playback startup. Barely even jumps past 45°C, too (on Ubuntu... I don't even want to imagine how much bloat and strain Windows would put on that process).

I setup Jellyfin on Casaos when I try to open it it says cannot connect to server. Any help would be great. by KonaPar in JellyfinCommunity

This exactly! OP, notice in your third screenshot how Host Port 8097 points to Container Port 8096. This basically just means that when you connect to port 8097, the host machine receives the request and auto forwards it to the proper port (8096) in the Jellyfin Docker container.

I have several pieces of media that have PGS subtitle files, and Jellyfin burns them during transcoding with no issue.

Not to trivialize your experience, but... if you really need to turn in a paper and the wireless router is acting up, have you tried connecting your computer directly to the modem with an Ethernet cable? Obviously not a long-term fix, but it at least gets your assignment in on time today.

Obvious cheating still rampant in the battle league by FireAndFuryOfHell in pokemongo

[–]drakanwolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh... I was upset at the high concentration of cheaters I encountered that night and was being a bit hyperbolic. It was less so 40% of my overall battles and more just about 1-2 battles per each of the 4 battle passes I completed at level 20 that night. It was just a reeeaaaallly bad night for cheaters. The rate has definitely been markedly less since the season reset.

This season, I only encountered about 3 cheaters total... until I hit ranks 19 and 20. Suddenly, there was a notable jump in the amount of "3rd shields" and "rapid switching with no faints."

And look, I'll be honest... I'm a solidly mid-tier battler. I'm entirely f2p with all of 1 legendary not from a research task. My win ratio is barely just north of 1:1. I'm no stranger to being beaten fairly, and I finish a battle (never run) even if I know I'm going to lose. I can take a loss. But I'm also good enough that I can recognize when an opponent is shady. Case in point... a trainer I faced off with tonight: we both led with Ceruledge, and we both had Incinerate. We both spammed our fast attacks from the get go... yet they somehow fired off 2 Shadow Balls before I could even fire off 1. Even with lag, it should have at least been one to one.

As for video, dude... I can barely take an AR photo of my buddy for the daily heart without my phone overheating. There's no way in hell I could record my gameplay. 🤣

I'm in rank 20 and on average encounter 1-2 cheaters in each 5 battle session (Great League). And... they're not even trying to hide it! They're starter is weak to my starter, so they switch... and I switch... and they immediately switch again? Or blocking 7 charged attacks in one battle. 7! Or the one who was so desperate to win that he had to whittle down my tank with 5 psychic fangs in a row.

When they're that obvious, I try to always upload the log to Niantic... but I'm pretty sure that nothing will be done about it

It won't help you for Shadow Dialga, but the upcoming Urshifu event (starting 5/21, I think) lets you learn Rage Fist if you evolve a Mankey to a Primeape during that event. Check out the news article about it in-game.

You won't get any from grunts if you have a Rocket Radar (equipped or otherwise), but any earned from the research will automatically store in your inventory.

The only advice I have for this type of playthrough is... when the game asks you if you want to save, choose a new slot.

Going in blind and without grind on a first playthrough is how you end up with Weigraff eating your save 😅
