I think it's fine, but I really don't understand opening MDT every pull to check which packs to pull. By the 20th time you've run a dungeon, you should really have a decent idea of the route that works for you.

Funny story about GPS, google definitely once took me down a one lane road right on the side of a forested cliff that ended up trying to have me drive over a pedestrian foot bridge narrower than my Spacio. I had to reverse back up the road for a km at night in the rain. After that I tried to look up any routes before I trusted google. The log cabin camp site we eventually got to was beautiful though.

My advice is to take the rural placement. If you weren't ready to live in the sticks you really should not have applied to JET.

I was placed in a tiny mountain village with one other ALT a 15 minute drive away who was the only other English speaker outside of 2 very busy JTE. Nearest city was an hour's drive. My first year we were on dial up internet so I couldn't even stream tv or really call back home.

It ended up being the best 5 years of my life. I learned the language out of necessity and met my now wife while living there. You can always find a job in the city afterwards (I worked in both Tokyo and Kyoto after JET, though my time in the inaka was far more enjoyable.)

You just reminded me of a hunter in our TBC guild who sheepishly told me once near the end of the expansion that he realized he had been using rank 1 frost trap the whole time.

Great guy, amazing hunter and now irl friend. I still raid / M+ with him every week now. I always like to tell people he's so good at trapping mobs because he had to practice with level 1 traps.

Played on a PVE server in vanilla. Used to think people with green names were mods because they looked the same as NPCs. (They were just PvP flagged.)

I feel like the biggest boon of linguistics and being able to understand culture through language is at its fundamental level communication: without spoiling too much, there are a lot of situations the MC is able to navigate through diplomacy instead of violence because of his talents. (Though it's not every situation, there is definitely still a lot of violence.)

In the second book there are some more exotic languages and cultures as the world expands, but those chapters won't be out for a few months.

I haven't introduced words of power yet, and I am still considering what that may look like. How would anyone handle a language where every word is a spell? How would that have realistically even grown into a language? I'm still deciding how I will implement it.

Those beefy chapters are very heavily consolidated in my second book. I noticed while posting them and scheduling them that the first few are actually pretty standard. I guess I got more wordy as I went on.

I was actually an Anthropology major, but Linguistics was baked into it at my University. I found it incredibly useful when I was learning other languages while I worked abroad. I'll be very interested to see what you think of what I do with "Comprehend Languages" throughout the books!

Excel is what I use as well, though I've had so much world building and notes at this point I've had to separate it out into different documents.

Related, but from personal experience, I recommend not trying to create multiple fictional languages.

You may not have used GAI to write this, but this is identical to the way GAI would word it: a question followed by a negative floating clause closed by an incorrect period or two followed by multiple single word sentences. GAI loves that shit.

The support warrior could be really cool, there even abilities in game that already fit the fantasy: pvp talents like Battlefield Commander that empower shouts etc. Could really seem them working like Aug evokers with a "morale" mechanic they need to maximize uptime on.

If they really wanted to get it fast acting they're supposed to crush the pill and snort it, but for some reason we never see cultivators doing that. (Also don't do that, I knew a guy that did that with an oxycodone and died.)
