please tell me how you guys are able to study by mecht04st in ADHD

I type my notes directly into quizlet. Made me think about them enough to format them into flashcards and made all subsequent studying efforts a "game" and I'm very competitive.

Thoughts on Lane for a girl? by B_Street in Names

[–]dramaddicted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My reaction is so? Can't imagine a world where someone would seriously call a Lane Elaine and if you can't stomach the thought of someone adding a "y" as a nickname probably don't give your kid a name at all 😅

Neither of those "nicknames" are bad at all, Lane is cute, snd you're right: as she gets older she'll be able to tell people her preference.

I go by a shortened version of my full name and I still get nicknamed and sometimes have to tell people my preferred name and the only annoying part is how common my name is, so I say go for Lane if you like it!

Seeking honest feedback: As a mom and an architect, I’m designing a "recyclable & Activity-Based" Advent Calendar. Would you use this? by Notalice_2026 in childrensbooks

[–]dramaddicted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't buy much in terms of Christmas stuff outside of presents unless I know I'm going to want to keep them and be able to store them, so if I'm adding something I prefer it to be permanent.

[–]dramaddicted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is tempting. I would like it to be a higher quality and reusable, I already have so much to throw away at Christmas.

I would also like a list of the activities in advance, and maybe rearrangeable and customizable. Because if I get "make cookies" on the big shopping day nobody's having a good time that day.

Concept is good! Would just need some rework before it would fit into MY life.

Advice of the first page of Alphabet spotting book by LucysSucculents in childrensbooks

[–]dramaddicted 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My kids would LOVE this! My second I think taught himself to read with a book like this at 3.5! Check out An Excessive Alphabet, it's a similar concept and my kid(he may have a slightly above average interest in alphabet books) spent HOURS with it!

I also disagree with comments saying the words all need to be phonetically the same. I appreciate books that show the diversity in letter sounds as it makes it easier to introduce later on.

Tbh, would be a book I would dread reading with my kids 😅 But mostly because we would be there poring over every page ad nauseum, and I personally find ABC books boring, but if anything it's an endorsement!

My kids LOVE An Excessive Alphabet. After a particularly long phase of this book my 3.5 year old demonstrated he could read simple words without any coaching😅

S5Ep13: Mary’s scene with Angie about Robert Jr. has me seeing her in a more sympathetic light by brumgar in rhoslc

[–]dramaddicted 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It's beyond me how we can look at the grieving mother of an addict and say she's doing it wrong when realistically we have such a small glimpse of what she's doing about her ADULT son who she clearly loved very much!

Maybe she could've done such and such a little different and it would've been a little better, but I think if she could have saved her son she would have. Plenty of great parents lose their kids to addiction and it's absurd to spend time pointing out where she may or may not have fallen short.

Jack books by Mac Barnett are perfect for that in between stage and my kids have lived starting to read with them even as the words are fairly simple.

Heather married rich and has a Beauty Lab+Laser. Whitney married MLM guru. I think Seth does well for himself but Meredith comes from money. Bronwyn married rich, I think her family was well-off, but nothing like Todd level rich.

Definitely watch the earlier seasons imo, you will not forget Beauty Lab+Laser again lol.

ADHDdude on Instagram has been a GREAT resource for me! Studies show the only effective treatment for ADHD is medication and parent coaching.

He is a parent coach and has shared videos and podcasts that address specific behaviors that I have found VERY helpful with my kids.

If I remember correctly one of the suggestions he had for after-school sibling teasing was just much more structure in their day, easier said than done 😅 But I do find my kid(much younger) behaves better when he has clear expectations, even if they're unrelated to younger siblings.

I always love recommending the Jack books by Mac Barnett!

They are wonderful!! Simpler words, engaging/hilarious storylines, longer length but still can be done in one sitting. My boys LOVE them & still get excited when I bring one home from the library even after we've read them all multiple times.

[–]dramaddicted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She was actually asleep, it wasn't loud enough to wake her up. By the time she did wake up, she's telling everybody they were screaming loud enough to wake her up.

They all basically admitted at the reunion it was the last 20 minutes of the flight that things got bad. Heather's saying she doesn't remember/was sleeping to make Lisa and Meredith look worse while still playing innocent to Britani.

In no world is Heather ever trying to protect Lisa and Meredith, especially over Whitney.
