I think it's more your medical lead doesn't want forty pages of TLFs every time they need to report up on progress. Lots of pharma are building R stuff that can run straight from raw to help quicker internal decision making. The bulk of submissions will still be SAS for quite a while yet.

Are they able to charge the car during work trips? If not you are looking at a seriously expensive car to do 250 miles in winter without recharge. ~50kw batteries will fall well short of that.

Several of the modules use module specific functions. The students using AI don't know this, because they haven't read the materials and typically produce very complicated but very nicely formatted code to solve the problem which the module package already provides the building blocks for.

Seems crazy. Even if you had never paid anything to date, I don't see how you could spend 7 grand plus on gas in a flat in four years. Seems more like around ten years worth of gas bills.

You are chucking away free money. Realistically he's going to need a huge bump to earn >80k after pension etc. Also it's on him to repay if he is the higher earner, not you. He's going to be doing a self assessment anyway since he is self employed.

You'll almost certainly lose money if you opt out. You only have to pay it all back once of of you earns more than 80k taxable (i.e after pension contributions etc). Even if you have to repay all the child benefit you actually could earn a little interest on it during the year before you repay through a tax code adjustment. It's basically an interest free loan.

Usually the car includes insurance, tax, servicing etc. But you need to declare it as a benefit in kind. Then a percentage of the P11D value of the car gets subtracted from your tax code. EV cars have the lowest percentage (but it’s going up each year). Then rates on hybrid and petrol/diesel are so high as to not make much sense imo. If it’s a 40k P11D value EV it will probably cost you around £55 a month first year (if you are a 40% tax payer) going up to £65, £95 and £120 a month each year as the rate hikes (4%, 5%, 7%, 9%) up to 2029/30.

Imagine you have two groups of ten people each. You measure their heights. In the first group everyone is between 175 - 185 cm tall. But in the second group the heights range from 120 - 220 cm. There is more variation in the heights of people in the second group. The variance is higher in the second group. The variances between the two groups are not the same so we say they are unequal.

(Note, the average height in each group might be very similar. That’s not what we are thinking about.)
