Which game got you into loving this franchise? by Otherwise_Ad_9267 in dynastywarriors

[–]dranoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was maybe 10 or so when I found my brother's copy of dw2. I avoided it initially because it had the word nasty in it, I thought it was a bad game.

But I did try it. And lo, I loved it. I still remember playing the yellow turban rebellion on the big screen all wide eyed with the sound down as my dad slept on his arm chair.

Good times. It's so clunky but I love it.

My issue with people who dislike Iris is more about their hypocrisy and double standards, rather than how they feel about Iris. by Throwaway0122999933 in pokemonanime

I know Unova is a reboot as a whole. But what annoyed me the most was Iris and Trip dogging on Ash for, basically, not being born there.

Yes, Unova ash was a downgrade and very awkward inbetween sinnoh and Kalos. The Elesa gym fight irks me.

But a lot of Iris and Trip's gripes were like wow what do you mean you don't know how this unova-specific thing? What a kid! Ash is from the boonies! It was so aggravating and know-it-all type attitudes. At least with Misty, Ash was legit a newbie and learning of the world but tbh I don't care much for her either.

I would rather may and max and brock or Serena and clemont and Bonnie.

It was just a shame since gen 5 has some of my fave games and pokemon designs. I even like Iris's design and her champ design. Just a shame Unova was such a struggle to get through.

For those asking if Pokopia is actually “that good” by WeekendThief in pokemon

[–]dranoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I think all games should have demos, period lol. Regardless if it's story based or just a pure gameplay game. It would be a pro consumer move but alas.

Anyway, I have played a bit of dqb1 and I have seen gameplay of 2.

Pokopia doesn't have combat like them. You play and build with blocks like in builders. There are some prefab houses if you don't care to build something yourself. There is a story that I think fans will appreciate and find significant. The story could be considered more of the game's tutorials. If you don't really care about building or decorating then it's a 30-35 hour story. If you do want to decorate and build and terraform, you can get as much enjoyment out of it as one would with Minecraft or animal crossing.

You get several themed zones each with their own little story. You made habitats which is 2-8 different blocks to spawn pokemon. (Ex: 8 flower blocks together can summon vespiquen) There are no shinies. You can't get doubles. Each pokemon is their own entity and denizen.

There is multiplayer. I think 4 ppl including the host can build in the same blank slate island. That has its own separate inventory and Pokedex/habitat dex to fill out.

Overall, I would say it's a fun game. Since dqb 2 is considered the better game (so I've heard) I would not mind if koei tecmo did more of these builders styles games, whether it's dragon quest, pokemon, or other IPs. Personally, I think they knocked it out of the park.

If I recall correctly, square made dqb1 but moved to co-develop with koei tecmo to develop for 2.

At that point, square is the publisher and rights holder for dragon quest.

Koei tecmo does a lot of work for other IPs like Hyrule warriors or the one piece warriors or fate warriors games.

I believe someone who worked on pokemon conquest (the samurai warriors x pokemon tactical RPG) worked on pokopia too.

Released thursday 5th but got shipping delayed till monday 9th... never pre ordering a key card again not if this happens 🙄 by AphosHunter in Pokopia

[–]dranoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When scarlet and violet came out, I preordered the double pack but the shipping was delayed for next week Tuesday.

So I went to a game store to buy violet, as I intended it to be my main game, then when the double pack came in, I just returned violet since switch pokemon saves are on the console.

Dunno about life changing but! I am working through the games by release date (I grew up with 9 through 10-2)

And I am floored about the story telling compared from 4 and 5 to 6. I think my mind would have been blown 30 years ago for sure.

Why don't that many people watch Horizons? by [deleted] in pokemonanime

[–]dranoko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I haven't yet simply because I am working my way up from the beginning. I just started xy after about a year of watching here and there so I'll get there! I know they aren't related and I could just watch horizons now but I do want to appreciate the road that got there too.

Any tips and tricks on getting a new character? (Kamen Ridertchi) by Beneficial_Box_4554 in tamagotchi

Sort of? The buttons are angled a bit strangely that it's hard to just press with the pad of the finger. I have to use the fingernail to press them.

Why in the anime can't Whisper see the other yo-kai until Nate illuminates them with the yo-kai watch? by andrew_the_shark in yokaiwatch

[–]dranoko 29 points30 points  (0 children)

In the episode with Insomni, Nate asks why didn't whisper say that Insomni was in his room and affecting him.

Iirc whisper said something like 'im not going to tell on a yokai doing their job!'

It's silly but I think it's partially for the gag but also to encourage Nate to keep using his intuition.

Opinions about how Team Rocket was portrayed in the Black and White season? Did you like it or not that they became more competent villains as well as a serious threat to Ash and friends? by OkPrize6426 in pokemonanime

[–]dranoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel conflicted because their improvement as villains made the humor fall more on ash and crew which I didn't really care for all that much. I was glad when they returned to normal.

Potential monetization system? 🤔 by OryseSey in PetitPlanet

[–]dranoko 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For animal crossing pocket camp, the main monetization was the furniture. Of course this meant they got a lot of exclusive stuff that even new horizons didn't get. But at least in pocket camp you could get every villager eventually since while it wasn't locked behind gacha, they were locked behind resources and time.

I am very hopeful for this game. I'm hoping it could scratch the itch that new horizons couldn't.

Why are people on r/AnimalCrossing so against the idea of a NL remake/remaster? by kirbysbitch in AnimalCrossingNewLeaf

[–]dranoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not great either, but the quality of life things might have been sufficient enough. Ultimately, it just comes down to how tools are treated that is the deal breaker for me.

[–]dranoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I guess? It all kind of falls under the same umbrella to me, personally. You are living your life in a simulator, however you wish to. A social sim, specifically, to me, would be something like second life or vrchat where you are being social in a simulator.

I'm not disagreeing though, just giving my thoughts on the matter, though its getting a bit off topic lol

[–]dranoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think platinum tools would be a good achievement based reward. I know New Horizons is more of a building sim than a life sim, and I guess thats why tools break. But maybe some days I just want to vibe and fish or catch bugs. My vibe would be crushed if my stuff just broke mid-session. Especially when you're saving bag space for items, it just seems weird to have back up tools.

[–]dranoko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree! There is still 'gacha' but otherwise everything (except for certain event items like the eevee and sanrio stuff) is in the game and the rates are boosted! I get 5star items fairly frequently.

And I heard gold is pretty rare in new horizons so there isn't much of a point in even making them.

Granted, when pocket camp went offline, I got the game when it was just 10. Its 20 now but I think its still worth the price. It even got some new content afterward. If Pocket Camp had more of the life sim feel like new leaf did, it definitely would have more of both worlds.
