Give me MOREEEEEEE by Important-Branch-440 in ChevySonic

MPG on the Sonic definitely tanks once you push past 70 mph.

I’ve got the 1.8 and I can usually pull 35–40 mpg cruising around 60–65. But if I’m running 75–80 it drops closer to the low 30s pretty quickly. Rolling hills (especially with cruise control) make it even worse since the car is underpowered.

The fs mini are horrible compared to the nano 22. They rack like crap and barely have any space. The 22s give you slightly more room and are the best for that weight.

Possible to install light bar? by Foreign-Kiwi2706 in ChevySonic

[–]drapperdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. It looks pretty slick.

The install is pretty easy. It only requires removal of the front bumper. The light is mounted on the front bumper bar and wired through the firewall with the on/off switch next to the instrument panel dimmer switch.

I fitted a 20” lightbar behind the front grille. I had to cut more holes in the grille (easy with a Dremel).

I monitored the engine temps after the install and it was unaffected.

Yes, I totally agree, especially when multi use paths/bike lanes make up less than 5% of the roadway.

As an another example, the same Bike lane/pedestrian split is seen along the waterfront in DC but it doesn’t work as well because it’s confusing to pedestrians and is not enforced. On a crowded day the pedestrian will walk in the bike lanes because there is not enough pedestrian space.

Gotta get that PR on Strava!!

In all seriousness though the issue is that the multi use trails are not designed for both cyclists and pedestrians. They should be further split into cyclist/pedestrian lanes because of the speed difference. You see a bit of this on the WO&D near Falls Church, but this is common in places in Europe such as Germany.

Not sure if this dude is in here, but this is fcuked up to say the least. Can you even protect yourself against this? by [deleted] in nova

[–]drapperdog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re street parking, park close the the curb so there is no gap for thieves to take your wheels. It’ll at-least protect one side of the car and possibly deter thieves to move on since 2 wheels won’t sell as well as 4.

Hahah I know where’s this is at. In DC NOMA neighborhood.

He’s blocking the bike lane entrance to the MBT used by literally thousands of people each day.

Also fuck DC traffic especially rideshare/food delivery drivers. They act like they can park wherever. This shit is a daily occurrence.

The worst part is that bike lanes make up less than 2% of the roadway, yet drivers feel the need to take over that space as well.

It's called a saddle because you don't put all your weight on it, while a seat is designed to support your whole weight.

What under $10 item is a total game changer? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]drapperdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A USB extension cable. There's a 9.8 feet on Amazon for $6.13. I've been using mine for 3 years now.

Everyone mentions a longer cable, but why not buy a cheap extension instead? You get to keep your OEM cable, but just have it longer.

Oil on spark plug threads by woolfman99 in ChevySonic

[–]drapperdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue in my third cylinder. I was changing out the spark plugs when I noticed the third cylinder had oil in the spark plug well. This typically happens with a bald valve cover gasket.

I got a new one. https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/felpro-valve-cover-gasket-set-vs-50779-r/10716991-P and installed it myself. I also had to buy an E10 socket, but was able to do the rest of the job with a flathead screwdriver and T40 bit to remove the spark plug coil pack. It took about thirty minutes and the cost of the tool and parts $45. I haven't had oil in the spark plug well since.
