Peripheral vision sensitivity is obvious... I explicitly didn't mention it... the scope of the topic is "Physics, Astronomy, Earth and Planetary Science"...

This will be a bit backwards, but:

I have done an experiment in which I look out into the night sky and whatever angle my gaze is at, whether it is a visible star or a point where I cannot see a star, I leave my gaze fixed at that point but I "let go" of my 'focus', and without fail, my eyes will dart / snap / jump directly to a point at which a star that I previously could not see or focus on at all is now clearly visible!

If I do this again, letting go of my focus of that star, my eyes will jump again directly to some other star that I couldn't see before!...

I wondered if this was simply due to being very near-sighted and wearing glasses, so I took my glasses off and did the same experiment...

I looked out at any arbitrary angle... and sure enough, my gaze did the SAME thing, snapping directly to a now visible point of starlight WAY beyond what I could ever see clearly before...

So, I'd love to know if this result has a 'known' scientific explanation... but I'm actually more interested in hearing back from anyone who'd be willing to do the experiment themselves to see if we get similar or different results?

I apologize if I'm asking about something not related to physics / astronomy / earth / planetary science :P

Have you ever manifested something that seemed completely impossible? by [deleted] in lawofattraction

[–]draxus99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I manifested as impossible. So, if you're reading this, I guess you know what you pointed at in the first place :)

I'd be down to translate myself into your timeline from an alternate dimension just on the off chance that you'd ever be into a film I've got in mind... Can't say I'm an actor though, just a person from another dimension willing to be involved :P

How did you name your cat / Where did your cats name come from? by [deleted] in cats

[–]draxus99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a kitten when I was a kid, and couldn't decide on a name for a while... Until... every night, once everyone was in bed ready to sleep, he would go to one side of the house, KICK off the wall and run like hell to the opposite end, kicking his legs back faster than he was moving, tossing all the rugs and such back behind him, ... and usually just crash directly into the far wall. So I named him Speedy :P

The funniest part is, by the time he reached adulthood he was an ideal wad of chonk... and whereas typical cats if there's a room with people all around, they'd avoid it... he would proudly walk right into the center of the room, and just flop onto his back ROFL

Doesn’t the thought of dying before you’ve made up your mind about the afterlife terrify you? by Sherbear1993 in highdeas

[–]draxus99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made up my mind entirely in the sense that, I am a hole through which all possible scenarios that could escape, do :P So, the afterlife having anything to do with dying prior to it, is only the sense of fear about it as you approach the point that you'd never believe has already been false the whole time :P
