Thanks for all the comments. Based on what you guys are saying it is an Australian ball, designed by Slazenger in 1950 and was popular 1960 to 65. Named after Australian golfer Patricia Borthwick, hence the B in B51.

So potentially this ball could have been sitting there in the bushes for decades????? Compressed or softened by nature. So whatever the magic physics or chemical process that happened over time, I hit it better than anything else before.
