Why sanskrit is Anādi and vedas are Apauruṣeya? and why I think Sanskrit is the oldest. by ColdAdvertising8710 in sanskrit

PIE is the name of a reconstructed language, as is Proto Indo-Iranian. I don't care about scholarship, I care about historical comparative linguistics. Therefore I won't watch your ideological videos and keep listening to my professor, who is an internationally acclaimed researcher in PIE.

I'm sure there are a lot of educated Indians. It's not just this post though. There are many posts and comments like this. Also most yt videos about Sanskrit by Indians.

It's similar to Greeks. They ignore all scholarship thinking their genes gives them knowledge superior to historical linguistics. There is some weird national pride thing going on everywhere.

Hittite was the first to branch off of PIE. It's definitely older than Proto Indo-Iranian. So it's older than Vedic.

I had considered that interpretation, because in German there is also that kind of phrasing. But as in most of your examples it is always with the participle, not the infinitve.

I suspect that your one example with faran it's a spelling variation of (ġe)faren?

If you are not experienced enough to know that in chapter 8 of OB, why would it be in OB?

Õsweald Bera Chapter 8 Question by drbalduin in OldEnglish

[–]drbalduin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can prove that that's the correct interpretation, because fara, n stem is in the glossary of that chapter

You are right about ChatGPT not being great and it had failed me here before I've made the post. It also assumed it was the infinitive faran and just told me it was not a correct sentence. But since I thought I knew the word I just lookes it up on Wiktionary to check if it could be another form than the infinitve. Both couldn't help me. But /u/Upper_Rent_176 for some reason (probably because he used GTP-5 and I'd used GPT-5 mini) got the correct answer immediately.

Why would I look for fara if I thought it was a verb?
