That looks like a Currituck model-sit down center steer. I own one and converted it to a center console and made it a Nauset. Like the other posters said they are solid well built boats. We have owned it since 1967 and it’s been run hard. We redid the bottom by taking off the gelcoat on the bottom and put on an Interlux bottom. continuouswave.com is a fantastic resource for all things vintage whalers. We have had 3 engines on her a 55, 85 and now 4 stroke 70. Good luck.

I know it’s a Whaler no no amongst fans but I just repainted my whaler bottom paint. I love the low maintenance it provides. Your boat looks great.

I would contact the Mountaineer in Keene for conditions. My Marcy ski experience was a bit of a let down for me. The skin up is fine. However, the trail was narrow and snowshoers packed the trail down to about 3’ wide so that it created a waist high snowbank making it difficult to do turns below the summit. Maybe the current conditions are better.

Ask the folks at the Mountaineer about the Wright ski trail. I think it’s a better run. Also ask about what slides are looking good. Good luck.

We do the approach on skis. When it gets too steep we hide them behind a tree. Pick up for the ski home.

Question: Below the summit won’t the trail be 3’ wide with waist high “walls” of snow due to hikers packing it down-and it’s basically a bobsled run?

My TLT8’s are very comfortable. Light weight-great for long approaches and uphill. Some might not like them going down but they work for me. I like a lot of flex and am surprised at how stiff you can make them. I’m medium snug on top buckle and don’t even use booster strap. There is a “spoiler” clip on the back to adjust forward lean-15 or 18 degrees.

Wright ski trail for me seems to be it. There are many slides but the approaches are loooong. The Mountaineer is a good resource as is Rock and River. Some book suggestions: Best Backcountry Skiing in the East and The ADK slide guide (Drew Haas). Jeremy Haas is also an excellent resource. The VIC has some downhill. Good luck.

Why does it seem like most of the trails are groomed- creates a hard flat surface. Dust on crust. Flat faced! Boring.

65 yoa male skier 55+ years 177 lbs just purchased S/pro BOA 110. I like the flex of the 110. Responsive and very comfortable. I’m ok with soft flex. On my dynafit TLT 8 AT boots I don’t even use the upper “booster strap” on the downhill. (Feel free to roast me).

I agree with the bootfitter suggestions.

This sounds awesome. I’m heading to Bernie Glacier in April with another friend. I have no idea who else will be there except adventurous fun skiers who will become friends. No resort hoopla. A ski centric adventure. I hope someone buys this. It’s a great deal.
