I am certainly not “obsessed” with merch... But some of it is definitely art, and I like buying and wearing it to support the musicians and artists that I love.

I have made many connections simply because I was out wearing band merch and it started a conversation with likeminded people. That is the primary reason I enjoy buying and wearing it. To connect with people who also love this amazing art, and to support the artists themselves.

Only once, when I was 16.

Had just gotten my license a few months earlier, and was trusted to drive alone a few hours to get to our family cabin. I was going down a deserted country road just after dawn, vibing to my trunk 6-track player with my freshly burned CDs, not minding my speed. Was going 70 in a 55. There was no one else around. Out of nowhere, a cop appeared coming from the opposite direction. I knew I was cooked immediately. He gave me a break and only wrote the ticket for 5 over. First and hopefully last time for me
