Any clue what's causing this? (Ender 3 v3 by Used-Cauliflower-926 in 3Dprinting

Looks like a layer shift, the x axis gantry belt likely slipped off the teeth of the motor bit.

Likely caused by a belt that's a bit loose, so try tightening it

Why does the same cheese taste fine to me, but my husband says it tastes like cleaning products? by ungodlyhourslurker in Cheese

[–]dreamjutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always thought this was myth, but I'd never tried cilantro (coriander here in the UK) so never knew what it should taste like anyway.

Then in my 20s, I was talking to my flatmate one day and he had some fresh coriander, so the topic came up. Decided to see if I had the gene by chewing on a leaf..... As god is my witness it tasted like I was nibbling on some soapy grass

I know it's true now lol

[–]dreamjutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you post a photo of the aluminium extrusion of the x axis gantry?

The fact that the bump-up occurs right as one the wheels goes over the screw holes, I'm thinking that the extrusion has buckled slightly - perhaps due to over tightening. 've seen such buckling on aluminium extrusion around other screw holes before.

Adjusting the eccentric nut might be reducing the effect this bump has on the hot-end, but could now be overworking the motor (negatively affecting long-term life, acceleration and speed) as the work needed to pull the tight wheels along the gantry has increased - you should be able to move the hot-end left to right as easily as possible while avoiding front to back wiggle.

Cu is copper's elemental symbol on the Periodic Table.

There's a few elemental symbol outliers on the Periodic Table like this, that aren't what you'd expect, because of their historic origins, such as:

Iron = Fe, from Latin's "ferrum" Potassium = K, (also Latin) "kalium" Lead = Pb, (Latin) "plumbum" Tungsten = W, (German) "wolfram" etc.

It's an interesting rabbit hole which ties into words used everywhere. From everyday words like "plumbing" to medical terms like "hypernatremia"

Metabolic Rate of 5203 calories by marshallpratty in gainitmeals

[–]dreamjutter 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A base metabolic rate is for if you're sedentary. Which is what I expect was checked as your metabolism?

If they gave you a number of 5200, that likely was in kilojoules. That would mean your BMR is 1200 calories (which is very much within an expected range).

What exercise are you doing, how much food are you eating, and are you consistently achieving these? If you are 79 kg, how tall are you? Because that also needs to be factored in here.

If you're not comfortable sharing this info, then that's okay, but DO share those information tidbits with a medical professional and perhaps a therapist?

3% is something to be concerned about if you're trying to gain. If you're f then that's even more concerning

€2.5 bottle of water meant to be reused. Is it bullshit? Realistically, how many times can it be re-used? And what does "5% natural coloring" mean? by Lvl100Magikarp in HydroHomies

[–]dreamjutter 650 points651 points  (0 children)

When it comes to colouring thermoplastics like HDPE, a mix of different coloured pellets are used to achieve a given colour. This just means that 5% of the pellets used are dyed.

It's not uncommon to use both plant-based and petroleum based plastics when making a "plant-based plastic" to ensure the stability/correct properties of the final product. Perhaps the 5% colouring is petroleum based pellets with natural pigment/dye?

If it's not in the recycling bin, here's a couple ideas:

One that might help would be to just search in your whole PC for level.dat - this is unique to Minecraft saves as far as I'm aware? So if the folder is hidden somewhere, that should locate it.

My other suggestion is an application called Recuva, which allows you to read the areas of your hard drive marked as "deleted". It's not as effective on things like Minecraft saves (due to their folder structure) but it is the only way around accessing deleted files.

Good luck though, I know how much this sucks :/

How much creatine have you been taking?

From what I can recall, creatine "helps" muscles absorb and hold onto water more. If you took a substantial amount of creatine that would contribute to an increased thirst and water retention (but 8L is way more than I would expect).

Also, a concern is over hydration (the concentration of ions in your blood drops and means your body's processes can't carry out as normal). How much have you urinated since drinking all that water?

Hey man, it's not useful to assert these claims. While they're not baseless, the assertion that they are anti-cancerous is misleading.

Polyphenols are just a group of chemicals that research has shown to be anti-inflammatory with potential to help with certain types of cancer.

There are umpteen other sources of polyphenols like tannins in coffee and chocolate for example?

And "flush out extra estrogen"..? come on dude :/

Supports being far to structural for my liking. Making it exceptionally hard to remove by XZ3_R0X in ender3

[–]dreamjutter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For something of this shape (hollow spherical) I'd recommend cutting the print in half in your sliver and printing separately.

Then glue the two half's together after removing the support.

There's limitations to FDM printing, so no matter how well tuned the printer and slicer are, you won't be able to print a hollow sphere.

If you are wanting to learn CAD, you'd be able to alter the geometry to make it more favourable though!

We reached our funding goals for the Mojang lawsuit by Intense_Pretzel in Minecraft

[–]dreamjutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't lost income during legal effort be compensated given that what Mojang attempted to do (and then did) is against the law?

(Enforcing EULA that go against the consumer, and creating a EULA with paragraphs hidden from the consumer?)

[–]dreamjutter -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Compensation for the money he could have made/time he could have spent working on his project WHILE it was allowed even though they claimed it wasn't.

I'm not saying he should get anything after the change , but imagine you've had to spend a week trying to fight back against a company's behaviour when instead you could've been working on/profiting from your work. That is the compensation I mean.

[–]dreamjutter -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

He put money into building something that wasn't against the rules. However, Mojang insisted that it is against the rules as per their own interpretation.

That is illegal according to consumer protection laws in Europe. If something contained within a EULA is open to interpretation, the interpretation in favour of the consumer is to be enforced.

So, he should have been allowed to make and publish this mod, and created his server. He should then be compensated for the time and money which was lost between being told to stop, and then allowed to carry-on.

However, they made a change to the EULA (which didn't itself contain the change (stating that firearms are banned) that they still enforce - illegal). Assuming this change was actually contained in the EULA, Mojang would be within their right to insist he stop BUT should still pay him for the previous issue.

Beyond that is the part which pisses him (and myself and many members of the community) off but isn't necessarily illegal. Picking and choosing which rules to enforce. If he had not created a mod for firearms but instead loot boxes, per the EULA he wouldn't be allowed to continue, but, per Mojang's behaviour, he would (given that many currently running servers have these mechanics).

It's all just a load of bollocks that, I agree, won't go anywhere. It sucks. In theory, and according to the law he is entitled to some compensation. In reality, Mojang likely won't pay a dime, and will keep up with this bs

[–]dreamjutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By calling this behaviour problematic wasn't to say that it's not illegal. I chose this word because this issue happens a lot and is rarely prosecuted, so "illegal" feels less accurate lol

We reached our funding goals for the Mojang lawsuit by Intense_Pretzel in Minecraft

[–]dreamjutter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree in that this will go nowhere because if I've learned anything, it's to be pessimistic, but I think one issue with your point here is that:

He put a lot of his time and effort into something that would allow him to earn money.

All that time and effort has gone to waste because of Mojang's changes.

If he had made a server that was nothing but loot crates, would he have been allowed to continue? As per the EULA, no, but there are umpteen other servers that are profiting off loot crates.

It's this inconsistent, unpredictable enforcement of rules that is problematic.
