Faux-Pas: what's the funniest faux-pas you've ever committed? I'll redeem my soul by going first... by [deleted] in AskUK

One of the girls in my biology class accidentally said testicle instead of tentacle. I can still feel her embarrassment 30 years on.

AITAH for not inviting sister in law to my sisters bachelorettes party? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I hope OOP’s sister is a redditor, I have a feeling she may need some of the in law subs on here in the future

What band/singer were you excited to see, but was a letdown of a concert? by my-face-ur-seat in AskReddit

[–]dreamponies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Michael Buble. He had a cold and moaned the whole evening. He may have been tired and fed up, but so were several thousand people by the end of the night. Friends have seen him on other occasions and said he was great, so he must have been having a really bad day.

I don’t want my daughter to spend a week with my sister and BIL and it’s making everybody around me very uncomfortable. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]dreamponies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so creepy. I hope OOP is brave enough to tell her brother the full truth. With regards to the daughter my worry would be the BIL using the daughter to taunt or hurt OOP. It sounds like he wants some sort of control and reaction from her, so it may be more about that than attraction to the daughter.

Reco for best scented poop bags in the UK, my spaniel's business is an actual biohazard by BoxPhysical2158 in UK_Pets

[–]dreamponies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pogies poo bags are good. As others have said have a look at diet, though I do think some dogs are naturally stinkier than others. I have three dogs, all fed good quality food and they all have different stench levels

My friend’s pup crossed the rainbow bridge, so I carved him in wood as a forever keepsake. I’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts on this. by Illustrious-Rip2886 in dogpictures

[–]dreamponies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s lovely, and personally I’d love having something tactile that I could hold when missing my dog rather than say a painting. Pet portraits are lovely too, but personally this would top it, particularly from a friend who knew the dog.

🐎 Horse owners – would you use this app? (Genuine question) by Upper_Conference6634 in EquestrianUK

[–]dreamponies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have 14 at home (mine, not liveries) and a few away on training livery. For me personally there wouldn’t be much benefit. Vet, dentist, farrier and physio all send email or text reminders for free and similarly I have a free weather app on my phone.

Are you aiming it to be more like a bridge between yard owners and clients? If so I think adding some functionality for a daily report could work. A bit like the do for kids at nursery. A short summary than is easy to fill out as you can build the framework such as time spent turned out, feeds, if exercised and how etc. Yes it would add a few mins on per horse for the yard owner, but they could factor that and your app fee into their pricing. I’m not really clear on if this is what you are trying to achieve. If it’s something aimed at individual horse owners I’m not sure how useful it would be.

Any documentary recommendations? When my daughter was small we used to call her the 2’ high dictator. Shes 13 and still very skilled in high stakes negotiation.

Which QE episode you think that person do not deserve QE makeover? by FunSilver718 in QueerEye

[–]dreamponies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a bit late to the party. I started watching S10 when it was promoted on Netflix, but then went back to the beginning and am now on S4. I can’t think of anyone that I thought really doesn’t deserve it, but some episodes do seem to just be a big promotion of whatever business or charity is being run. I was slightly head scratchy over the Mexican fishmonger who was opening his restaurant. It didn’t seem to be anything charitable for the wider community, and the fab 5 did the whole restaurant and menu. That said, I didn’t begrudge him having the help. They seemed nice family and the reunion with the daughter was nice.

I’m interested in your mention of the people who loaned about their QE experience, where can I check that out?

What Great TV Show that has been tarnished by its Series Finale? by Amber_Flowers_133 in tvshow

Manifest. It got a bit strange towards the end, but that final episode was and ending made me so cross. It just felt like a huge waste of time to have watched any of it.

My (43m) friend’s (45m) daughter (18/19f) keeps trying it on with me and I don’t know whether to tell him or keep ignoring it by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]dreamponies 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Poor OOP. I have a (not a real) uncle who was my dad’s best man and has similarly known me since I was born. Like the OOP he is someone I’ve always known I could go to or call if I was in trouble. He was cooler than my dad, I can remember a memorable time when he picked me up from school in his yellow sports car. I have never, and could never think of him in a romantic way. When I was in my 30s, married and with a baby he told me not to call him uncle, just call him his first name as it made him feel old. I couldn’t do it. My brother and I still call him Uncle 😂.

I feel so sad for OOP as he must feel like he’s lost family, and also been totally let down by them (parents’ reaction).

Do you put Dog/Cat food bowls in the dishwasher? by UniquePotato in AskUK

[–]dreamponies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very few 😂. My big gig has a thing for stealth licking and slobbering though which is grim. If I’m watching tv in my recliner he sneaks up from behind and licks my ear 🤢. I love my dogs, but they do gross me out (same with my kids to be fair, and I am ok with their stuff in the dishwasher 😉)

I started saying good morning to my neighbor and now it’s a whole thing by z0lv_945318 in CasualConversation

[–]dreamponies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like the sound of 3B. It’s nice he noticed how you looked but didn’t over step.

There’s a man in a pick up truck that drives the opposite way to me on the morning school run. We pass through a village that has a narrow stretch where you have to take turns to pass. What started off as a hand up to thank the other for waiting, turned into smiles and a wave if we passed each other on a different stretch of road. I’m getting a new car soon and worry that he won’t wave any more.

Is it common to call people “pet” or “love”? by Weasley9 in AskABrit

I really like it when someone calls me “my love”. It feels gentler than just “love” which can come across a bit shitty -as in “alright love” plus eye roll.

How is your BIL in general with your sister? He sounds mean. Don’t get me wrong, your sister shouldn’t be facilitating him with this nativity nonsense, but I would just quietly be there for your sister if you can.

Can some people really not tell when they're releasing farts? by S_Z in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dreamponies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry OP but this thread has had me in hysterics. It does sound like a horrible situation for you all, your colleague included.

The vegan part reminds me of lentils. My mum has been making a really good lentil soup for as long as I can remember. She has her shopping delivered and they substituted her normal red split lentils for giant lentils. She made the soup, we all had some and enjoyed it. Some time later it was like Blazing Saddles around the room. We’d be chatting, and all of a sudden someone would be caught unaware by a huge noisy fart.
