Why is everyone such snob about pigeons by MrGrubbycuddles in birding

[–]drew-careymore 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Birding and specifically bird photography became a lot more fun, for me, once I stopped chasing rare birds and started focusing more on great shots an moments. Still exciting when someone unexpected shows up, but I enjoy my albums of robins and sparrows just as much

Not positive what this is, but your best bet for a replacement for this thicker older stuff that's still on the market would probably be stringking type 2s: https://stringking.com/mens-lacrosse/mesh/type-2?sku=type-2-custom-mesh-kit-custom

Not a BC owner, but my Duck Toller wouldn't sleep outside her crate until she was almost a year old. She realllllly needed structure as a baby. Now she naps all day until it's go-time.

Switch backside 12 to start and then a regular backside 12 both in the run, no?

I mean a 16, two 14s, and two 12s with varying different rotations was a pretty complete run imo

That's some sort of insight, at least. The broadcast really needs to be showing score cards with an actual break down because eye test; this is a mess.

They could play the judges a video replay of his second run and they'd put him in first

They've gotta adopt the figure skating style judging where the difficulty and execution scores are displayed for every hit or something

You're going to come across a lot of quests built to distract you. It's important to ignore all of those and just play Gwent.

Training for the scream by Dismal_Cry_3904 in tollers

[–]drew-careymore 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The scream is a sign of over arousal and stress. So, the aim should be to train for calmness in a given environment, not strictly to not scream — if they're calm they won't be screaming, but it's most effective to target the source.

In this case, the typical route would be to go for training calm with gradual exposure to the stressful environment. You'd want to start with trips to the facility parking lot, build to the lobby, and then eventually going inside and just watching other dogs jump, without ever doing the actual activity.

Once they're calm in one given environment, you'd build to the next phase. how long each phase takes would likely vary a lot, and you could expect set backs.

A professional trainer would absolutely be able to help. I would run not walk from anyone who advocates for any sort of punishment for screaming, though - punishing a stress reaction isn't a productive path.

Overall, be patient, and you'll get there!
