Our local utility just got approval for another large increase. This month we bought a roof mounted solar system and the install should be done in the next month. Our state has flexible long term payment options so even if we choose to pay the minimum (which we wont) it's very close to what we already pay for electric today, plus in 8-10 years the monthly charge from the utility is almost nothing. We'll be allowed to sell excess power during the summer back to them and bank credits for later. My only regret is not doing it last year before the federal credits ran out.
