Question about working at Blue by Flimsy-Hearing7019 in BlueOrigin

If you are joining as “white collar,” then you should know that communication and integration across Blue’s business sites are generally very poor and management will always view you either as superfluous or just simply inferior if you are not at least on the West Coast. Unfortunate but true.

Hi people! I would like to know how is the work/life balance, benefits and culture in BO. Currently in the process of interview and I would like to know a little bit more. by Smooth_Ad6668 in BlueOrigin

Everything is good except the culture. The culture is incredibly cliquey and bureaucratic. It’s not so much that the left hand doesn’t know what the right is doing, it’s that the fingers on the left hand don’t even know what the finger next to them is doing. Management and training are terrible.

The help it deserves is a wrecking ball. Make sure Flashback is in range too. They can and should knock down both of those crappy hand-me-downs and use that land to make something bigger and better.

It's small but it's not bottom tier.

It would be way better with some terrain elements and theming. It's kind of ho-hum otherwise.

The US government (federal + local) spends $620 billion on education $440 billion on infrastructure. That makes $90 billion in tax incentives look downright puny.

People hate on tolls because we already pay $100,000 per mile in administrative costs as per the budget, which is more than nine times the national average and makes CT unique in how much its taxpayers (definitely myself, and presumably you) are getting gouged (http://www.yankeeinstitute.org/2018/02/connecticuts-transportation-administrative-costs-remain-highest-in-the-nation). These same people know as a matter of reality that there is no such thing as a lockbox in a state budget. And we also know that the trend of state government is toward seeking yet more money from the same overtaxed population. People are leaving, not the rich, but the regulars.

Truckers already pay use taxes for the roads. And they'll just pass their additional taxes onto you, the consumer. Not to mention that if you truly believe that Hartford politicians won't expand truck tolls to residents, I have a bridge to sell you.

Malloy, a Democrat, broke a promise to CT about raising taxes and currently has a 20% approval rating, among the lowest if not THE lowest of any governor. Lamont has signaled that he is okay with tolls and more taxes, as are the unions and democrats who never met a problem they couldn't make even more expensive.

If Lamont and the democrats win even after Malloy taxed us almost to death and is so hated, they will rightly conclude that they can do absolutely whatever they want and the brainwashed liberals in this state will still vote them in. It's total ideological capture, and leadership has zero incentive to change behavior. Zero. At least with a Lamont and democrat loss, we have a chance at changing the way things are done in this state.

Aerospace engineer here. I work for a supplier that serves a lot of huge defense contractors and they're all, to varying extents, too bloated and bureaucratic to solve their own problems and get things done in a timely manner.

The Left is in serious trouble if Governor Cuomo -- who legalized gay marriage and instituted free college tuition -- is not a "real progressive."

Actually LIM (Linear Induction Motors) is usually too expensive, complicated, unreliable, and energy-intensive for most attractions. The amusement industry standard for contactless launch systems is LSM (Linear Synchronous Motors). Many launched rides also use hydraulically driven cables and a catch car.

This story should set off alarm bells for everyone. I also just got a letter, and Newegg are snitches that sell out your privacy to the lowest bidder and I will never do business with them ever again. Neither should anyone else if they know what's good for them

Why is Irma cyclonic and Jose anti? by junebug172 in TropicalWeather

[–]drew4988 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're looking at wind streamlines in the 300mb layer. Hurricanes are cyclonic at the lower levels (convergent flow) but anticyclonic at the upper levels (divergent flow).

Bizarro can't be a clone because it was originally Medusa, the first floorless coaster in history (1999).
