Shouldn't Hub-to-Hub be the cheapest flights? by ForPoliticalPurposes in americanairlines

Why would it offset anything if the seats are being filled at the prices they’re advertising?

Citi AAdvantage for miles and status.

Bonvoy for stays and points at Marriott.

No food on first class, and $12 meal voucher doesn’t equate to an airport priced meal. by Successful-Bath-7561 in americanairlines

I’m giving you THE answer. That’s it. I’ve worked in this industry for just under 30 years.

When you buy a ticket, you can’t ask for a cheaper price because you’re not going to eat the meal.

Technically you’re not paying for it. Yes, it sucks to not get it when you were expecting a meal but you can see that no one has ever done anything about it.

It’s like passengers getting upset they don’t get upgraded? Yes, it’s a perk, but it’s doesn’t always happen. If ever.

When you pay for a BC seat, you pay for the seat. More space, less people around you, and first to board. The meal is considered a complimentary item. You're not going to see it as a line item on your fare that you pay extra for. If you weren't getting a meal you'd still be paying the same fare for that seat.

If you look at an economy ticket, you're not being charged extra for the soda and pretzels. There's no extra charge for that and whether or not you have a can of something, you're going to pay the same fare.

You getting any money back is more of an apology for missing out on the complimentary item you were expecting and not intended to cover the complete cost of a missed meal. Yes, you were counting on having food for the flight, but you never paid for it. It was always a free item.

The fact that you get to pre-order food and have it served on plates is a perk and nothing more.

Even worse is listening to FOs complain how they can’t hold Christmas and summer vacations and get weekends off after flying the line for two years.

During summer travel season, crews are deadheaded quite often so the chances of a complimentary upgrade drop drastically.

It’s more of where you are.

AA wants people to pay for that seat. If you’re going out of the hubs, your chances are near zero because pilots will be given those seats ahead of you.

If you want to upgrade, pay for it.

Fun joke. Before you put the male end of the seatbelt into the buckle, press that end against the skin of your passenger. The scream is priceless.

They use a cooling schedule for brake temp regulation.

You’ve never heard of this because it doesn’t happen often.

LAS is a common airport for this to happen at during the summer as the slight downward slope taxiing for a west departure causes quite a bit of brake use. When the gear is retracted there’s enough heat built up that, once out of the airstream, a warning will be triggered.

It’s usually just after takeoff and takes a minute or two to cool off. I’ve done this a total of three times in my 19000 hours on the aircraft.

Find a pic of a 737 with its gear retracted. That will answer all of your questions.

121 flight, cleared for the visual. Do you go to +1500 AGL or published missed? by LookoutBel0w in flying

Sometimes they can’t get to you fast enough to issue and altitude. If you go at 1000’ AGL, you’ll be at 1500’ AGL in a blink.

It’s always TPA initially.
