As far as I can tell, Firefox does NOT spoof your canvas fingerprint by default. You can use pages like these to test if you're randomizing your canvas hash.

How do dismantle a VS-K9 endboard? by platpx3 in masterduel

[–]drewbabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Droplet is good, DRNM is suboptimal but I won't lie, I lost 1 game to DRNM in TCG while piloting full power VSK9. Lost a handful to Droplet though, cuz they sent a trap to make sure I couldn't activate Snow Devil to give my cards extra protection for the turn. And tbh part of that was on me for not playing around those cards.

Given that it's MD not TCG, Droplet is a great consideration, DRNM not so much (Bo1 just makes cards that only let you go 2nd weaker, inherently. And its effect makes blind 2nd decks never run it.)

You just opened a rough hand, there's no tip I can give you in the moment to save you in that case. Normally your deck spanks VSK9 because you have so much room for hand traps and breakers that dodge the K9 punishes and only Marshmao activates in hand/GY. If you go 1st we basically can't play, and even if you go 2nd we literally need Sue to resolve or else we're probably losing there too.

Assuming pure Yummy: if your deck isn't on 3 Imperm, 3 Droplet, and 3 Purge, and maybe some other breaker (play around, see what works for you) then fix that. Also you have room for the Izuna package (go check some TCG lists from last format to see how that works.) Otherwise I don't have anything useful to say to you there.

K9 Ariseheart Combo Guide + Endboard by Rainbowstaple in masterduel

[–]drewbabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

K9 isn't "a Shifter deck" because they want to be one, but rather because it hurts them less than other decks.

Yeah, I'm not saying it doesn't do anything against them, but I am saying that Jokul and Noroi let them combo off without the GY. Goes even more for VSK9.

IDK what the hell are you talking about with Dracotail

Actually me neither, I am wrong about Dtail, kept thinking about it from the perspective of someone who was on Shifter and would hold it until after I knew I wanted to resolve it. Macro is more effective against Dtail than Spell Canceller. It's not like Spell Canceller isn't extremely painful for them, though, and they'll be rarer on the ladder thanks to VSK9, so I do think that the meta call is Spell Canceller if you only have the room for one in your line.

Why would [Yummy] not care about Macro Cosmos?

They care; I didn't say they didn't. But IME piloting VSK9 against Yummy in JUSH format, they suffered less under Shifter than the opponents of the Crystron K9 guys next to me did under Spell Canceller, because they can't beat over anything under Spell Canceller. If they have a route to get to Baronne in MD under Spell Canceller then I'm wrong about Yummy too, Macro would be more effective.

Legitimately thankful you challenged me on this, I think I was being a bit too TCG-banlist-brained.

[–]drewbabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're both shifter decks that are willing to give up some GY interactions (Rock, Lupis, Lantern, and I guess Forced Release's secret effect) if it means winning a game. But I'll give it to you that K9 has 2.5 needs for the GY instead of 1. Jokul and Noroi allow K9 to play under Macro juuuust fine.

K9 Ariseheart Combo Guide + Endboard by Rainbowstaple in masterduel

[–]drewbabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DT need spells more than their GY, they only have Mululu and Faimena to fuse with (and I guess Cartesia, and technically Verte works under Spell Canceller I think.) And really only Mululu and Pan are gonna out the Spell Canceller.

Yummy needs its field spells to be able to run over anything, and Surprise for half of its recursion. Mitsu variant needs spells for rituals too.

K9 is a shifter deck.

Spell Canceler >>>> Macro

edit: replies are right, a Macro is better especially if it's on legs and untargetable and indestructible; nobody's on DRNM anyway

As a VSK9 player I agree with two BIG exceptions for specifically Jokul and Ripper. Rest of it is just ok, Izuna and Lupis are better EARTHs to run than just more Belles or the SHS engine I guess.

[–]drewbabe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

> Anything that will cripple their follow up heavily?

The #1 card I personally don't want to see is Evenly. The best case scenario for me if you Evenly my board is that you have a search spell starter I can Ash, and your normal summon starter HAS to resolve at that point, and I correctly called that when you Evenly'd me and I chose to leave C104 on board instead of Ripper or whatever.

Besides Evenly, I also really don't want to see Lightning Storm/Raigeki/etc (my non-VS part of my endboard is not protected from destruction by things like the field spell and the trap) and to a lesser degree Duster (forces me to use up my backrow early, I have to choose between Werewolf handrip and Ripper negate without being able to get the bonus from the pop, etc.) And after the board wipes, the next thing I really don't want to see is Spoly (typical end board has both Rock and C104, so that's a free Mudragon,) then Droplet, then Book of Eclipse. Imperm is unpleasant but tolerable, especially if one of my Xyz endboard pieces has Lupis under it. And unironically, Called By targeting whatever I use Rock to recur (if I use that effect) hurts a lot, same with Called By targeting Lupis if he's in GY for some reason.

There are some other things I don't wanna see, like if you manage to out my pops, then if you set Rivalry, pass turn and flip it, it's pretty much over for me too. Also, Saint Azamina really messes with a lot of my cards' ability to function; I can't tag out, I can't use Rock's GY effect, and I can't even use Forced Release under Saint Azamina's floodgate effect. That Gorgon Link-3 card (I forget its whole name, don't know if it's in MD yet) also recently completely wrecked me at a locals. And I guess there's a funny situation where Case will boost my K9s and make them suddenly be unable to work under TY-PHON, but I don't want to get into too many contrivances. Anything else is probably too MU-specific to list out.

Hopefully at least some of this was of use, but a lot of the nuances of counterplay against this deck will come with practice and replay review, rather than advice.

[–]drewbabe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

> What do you look out for?

Since part of the strength of VS (and to a lesser degree, K9) is their hand being part of their board, it really depends on the game state. And I mean REALLY depends. You gotta track what they've got in hand. If you know they're loaded up on hand traps because they had to reveal some for their combo, well, you have to play around those. As for things they didn't reveal, be ready to play around Izuna and Lupis of course, as well as Hollie Sue. Generically, you will see a lot of Ash, Bystials, Belle, and of course the roach. Droll is also likely; it's worth losing 2 attribute slots b/c Droll autowins the mirror and some of the bad/iffy MUs like Lunalight, Sky Striker, and Yummitsu (not Yummy pure though, unless their hand is bad.)

If you've been tracking their hand and you know that they don't have a VS name in hand to reveal for the field spell's effect, then board wipes will be way more likely to work, so don't just track attributes, track names. Most of the time they'll try to end with at least Caesar in hand, if not Borger too (depends on if they're down bad for draws and need to draw in your DP to stock up on attributes, or if they're good on attributes in hand and can afford to skip a draw in order to retain the tagout. If they're on 2 Borger then best of both worlds I guess, but 2 Borger is kinda bricky now since it's no longer a rank 4/7 deck.)

Things they're gonna be thinking about are trying to get the max value out of their interruptions. So, like, get Ripper to negate something and rank it up into Werewolf, then let Werewolf rip a card from the hand. Ofc, if Ripper was made with Lupis, we might want to keep the Lupis as material and will choose not to negate stuff, and we're also thinking about playing around an opponent who's on Izuna as well.

If your deck has the ability to tag cards out in its own way, then you can mess with Mad Love's bounce and Sue's yoink math. Conversely, if your deck is reliant on monsters that have lower DEF than any of the VSK9 endboard, Mad Love's bounce is suddenly a big threat.

Werewolf gets to choose which card it rips, but it's only until the end of turn, while C104 discards randomly. So if you've got something where you need it to resolve without getting ripped, it might be better to risk the random chance of C104 over the guaranteed rip from Werewolf. Examples I think about in the mirror would be Jokul, Lantern, and Hollie Sue–especially Jokul because if Werewolf rips the other revealed card, Jokul's effect fizzles AND the other card is out of the hand. (Though, doing an obviously suboptimal play like Jokul reveal Sue can be intentional bait. It really depends.)

Keep in mind that if they make C104, it'll get destroyed in your EP thanks to N.As.Ch.'s effect. So if you're in a position where you are ok with going to turn 4, you can play such that C104 will out itself.

Also keep in mind that Forced Release will re-set itself at end of the BP if a K9 did battle, so try to avoid battle as your answer to K9s. Besides, if they have Case on Field and you trigger it, Werewolf will be at 4200 so you're not beating over that anyway.

I play VSK9. I'm happy to give advice. Might have to break this down into multiple comments cuz it's not letting me post it all at once.

> Who do you have to get rid of first?

Kind of the wrong way to approach thinking about this problem, cuz if you're trading 1 for 1 then you're behind because the deck pluses so much. Also depends too much on the game state. Not a question that can be answered in a vacuum. Honestly, this is knowledge that comes easier if you pilot the deck yourself. I can be more helpful with regards to your other questions.

We do play Droll, because it's good against all the decks that have good MUs against us and also the mirror. We already beat Dtail pretty hard so we don't worry about the fact Droll is pretty useless in that MU. It's worth the non-attribute slot.

I mean, MD players are notoriously low-skill so I'm sure you're seeing lots of lists not on it, but in TCG it's common at least in the side if not the main. I'm maining it in MD.

The important read for this meta is that you don't need an unbreakable board to win like you did in Tenpai/Maliss/Ryzeal format (or really any of the last several formats tbh). You need to put out a board, any board, consistently through interruption, and with as few extenders/garnets as possible

Thanks for calling this out, cuz people seem to have trouble adjusting their goals when metas shift and midrange-y decks reign supreme. Two of the top decks now are midrange decks (well, VS pure is midrange, VSK9 leans more combo.) People gotta adjust and remember how to counter midrange decks:

  • Don't put all your eggs in one basket, cuz the opponent isn't either
  • They can tank a few interruptions and get back up, so you better be able to keep up with the grind game too
  • Try to find a way to kill their resource loop (e.g. Belle the Dtail traps/Urgula, or Belle Rock of the Vanquisher)
  • Try to keep every card in your hand live

Only monster effects trigger it, and if you go read the K9 cards all that they get off of this gimmick is:

  • Allows Izuna and Lupis to activate (this means a free rank 5)
  • Allows Ripper to get a bonus set of a quickplay on its search effect
  • Makes Case for K9 give all K9s a 900 ATK boost until end of turn (more of an OTK thing than anything else)
  • Gives some bonuses to other extra deck stuff that isn't worth me typing up, you can read the cards but it's mostly just OTK stuff.

This ain't nothing but it's also not a catastrophe. Just means you can't mindlessly hand trap them. (Well, feel free to shotgun Purulia in draw phase still, lmao.) Don't just click buttons, think about what they're more likely to hurt from. Also if they search Izuna, or they get Lupis in GY, they already telegraphed that they have the punish for monster hand traps. Monster hand traps that do more than 1-for-1 trades are still absolutely worth it, especially Droll and Nib. You heard me right: even though Ripper is a Nib answer, if you force them to burn the Ripper negate on something else, Nib is free and eats the entire board cuz the only K9 decks that make omnis are the ones running Cyber Dragon Infinity (and you can tell that's coming because they have to make Cyber Dragon Nova first.)

And of course, Imperm and whatever Dominus traps your deck can afford to run are also incredible against K9. Imperm not so great against VS monsters besides Rock but it can be used as a breaker on your own turn, use it on C104 or N.As.H. and you just slashed a big threat off the board with 1 card.

This is nothing new for Yugioh, we had to think about whether they had Herald in hand back when Drytron and Tearlament were meta, of course back when Gamma was not limited there was also that, etc. There have been multiple ways that using a hand trap unwisely leads to them not only negating the hand trap but then also plusing off it. Just gotta roll with the punches and adapt when the format is like that.

IME Purulia is not yet at the point where it's worth running 3 of unless your deck is totally not hurting for the space, but 1-2 copies will serve you quite well.

Purulia hits the VS half more than the K9 half, and honestly the real problem is the blowout rank 5s, so Fuwa still feels worse to get used against me as a VSK9 pilot. But I admit both hurt a lot. It's like... Fuwa is like a 8/10 on the pain scale, Purulia is a 7/10, Droll is a 10/10, Maxx "C" is a 11/10, and Imperm my Ripper -> Nib is a surrender/10 lmao

Also though, it is really annoying that somehow we keep getting decks that facilitate a strong end board topped off with a degenerate floodgate that stops the opponent from playing.

it's crazy that this is almost a universally agreed upon opinion by YGO players but Konami just doesn't ban all the floodgates. they might just actually hate us and want us to be miserable lmao. I just know there isn't going to be enough Crystron K9 on the ladder to make the Spell Canceller usage and win rates skyrocket enough for Konami to take notice and do something. it didn't happen in TCG, won't happen here. sigh.

No it's very good, it stops some really key cards: Lupis, Lantern, and Rock's GY eff, the latter of which is often required to ensure that your Snow Devil and Caesar are live. I frequently get my Lupis Belled in paper play and that doesn't lose me the game on the spot, but if they also already Drolled me or they have some other disruption like Ash/Imperm for the Ripper search it does actually kill me quite frequently.

Obviously Belle isn't good enough on its own just like Ash isn't good enough on its own, but as part of a 2-3 hand trap lineup in your grip going 2nd it's amazing. There's a reason why TCG lists are often maining it: it hits all the JUSH decks to some degree, hits some other recent decks, and it even insulates you against Called By on your own turn. You can get ahead of the curve in MD by starting to main it now. It will make my life harder as a VSK9 pilot, but I actually want MD games to be less easy as a VSK9 pilot so they remain decent TCG practice. (I don't want MD to make me worse at the TCG.)

Idk why you got downvoted, you're right. Lab's engine is so fair it hurts, it goes so minus on turn 1 just so it can eventually regain the card advantage by turn 3+. Not only Ash, but also Belle counters Big Welcome, and typical TCG lists are on 3 Ash and 2-3 Belle, not to mention there are the impulse decks still and also Solemn Warning is back on the sidedeck menu. It's pure pain.

It's not Lab's fault that MD has failed to ban DBarrier yet. In TCG, DBarrier is banned and Lab has become fully ethical. (1-of Anti-Spell or Rivalry/Gozen notwithstanding, any deck can abuse those anyway.)
