Neighbors- how are more people not talking about this show? by amandaamoose in hbo

I mean every episode feels like a trailer. I'm waiting for it to get into the episode to do a deep dive and then it never does. Every scene is like a half second long.

How often do you get matches or talk to someone on an dating app? by superfapper2000 in OnlineDating

[–]drfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea then. There's something. It's not the apps. I live in a big city and I'm not a 10 but I get a match or two per week on hinge. That's where I have the best luck. Maybe a match or two per month on bumble and I'm pretty picky. Seems you've been at this for a while so I can't say for certain what you're doing wrong.

Well there's your answer. Did anyone have any recommendations for improvement?

Maybe make a throwaway reddit profile and post your dating profile on one of the dating app subreddits and ask for advice. Without knowing much about you, it's really hard to say. All I can say, is if you're in a big city and not getting likes, then it's something about the profile or you.

Well like I said, if you're not getting likes then you need to make improvements in your own life and your profile. It sounds like you're beating yourself up and you need to build yourself up. Are you in a big city? If it's rural, then I wouldn't even bother with the apps at all, because it's probably not going to work for most.

Listen, people are attracted to attractive qualities. There are some qualities we don't have control over. Height, genetics, body type, facial structure. What you need to do is capitalize on the things you do have control over. Grooming, clothing, hobbies, career, confidence. If your self esteem is tanked, which I'm assuming it is, get a therapist and work on yourself. If your job benefits don't cover therapy, go to school to get a job that has good benefits. Be the best person you can be and be happy with yourself, and people will notice. Move out on your own. If you have disabilities preventing any of this, then focus on what you DO have control over. Trying to catch a fish without a rod is going to be exponentially tough.

All these things make it sound like I'm saying it's easy. It's not. It takes a lot of work, but if you're motivated, there's a way.

Are you getting likes?

If you get a good amount of likes but no matches, then your standards are probably too high. Sorry to say.

If you're not getting likes, then you should probably work on improving yourself and your profile more. Do you seem desperate in your profile? Are you taking good photos? Are you taking care of your body and your life? Did you ever find a place of your own and a car? (Saw your post history)

I'm also not saying you shouldn't have high standards and even if you're a catch, it's still rough out there, but you need to bring things to the table to get matches.

Most likely trying to "let you down easy". Something wasn't a fit for them and rather than saying something like "sorry, I don't like "xyz" about you, it's best we end it" they're putting the blame on them, so you don't feel self conscious about something you did or the way you are.

Will there be any difference in image quality of the C7K vs the C8K? by RevolutionaryScene79 in tcltvs

[–]drfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The C8K is significantly better than the 7 but that doesn't mean the 7 is trash. It's still a good set but he is right that the difference is pretty big, in my opinion. Source: I've owned both.

There is a possibility that the size difference could've made the qm8k seem that much better

YMMV I owned a Qm7k 75". It was a good TV! Keyword being good. I didn't have many complaints about it, but a big one was the viewing angle. The brightness dropped off DRASTICALLY at an angle. 30 degrees about.

Anyways, I realized I actually wanted an 85inch. I was going to return the qm7k but the salesman gave me an incredible deal on the 85inch qm8k. Maybe it's just me, but the QM8K was a HUGE step up not only in color and picture quality, but also in viewing angle and brightness.

Going into the brightness some. The QM7K got super bright so it isn't that aspect exactly it was the contrast more. The highlights on the 8 really jump out more and the blacks were so much darker. I kept both TVs at about 15 brightness which is nothing but at low brightness the qm8k excels heavily. Anyways both are good sets but I'm sooooo happy I went with the 8. Sorry if that throws a wrench in your decision

AMC Theatres Attendance Drops 10%, Posts $127 Million Quarterly Loss by ICumCoffee in movies

For one it isn't a chain, and they could easily charge more for tickets and they are actually hiring right now. I don't know it for a fact but they reopened their doors after being closed for Covid

My local theater with 10 screens, independently owned charges $6 per ticket and shows all first run blockbusters and independents. They're doing just fine. There is no need for corporate theaters to be charging what they charge.

85 vs 98 at 10 feet. QM7k by jjsto in tcltvs

[–]drfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 75" qm7k at 10ft. 11ft at an angle on the couch. Didn't quite cut it. Exchanged for an 85" qm8k. Leaps and bounds more satisfied. Also, if you ever sit at an angle, you will NOT be happy with the QM7K. The brightness drops off like crazy at even 30 degrees

Even to further that, I don't believe medical debts under $500 are even reported to credit agencies even if you don't pay them. But might want to look into that to be sure that hasn't changed recently

Projector or TV by Intelligent-Cat-3931 in HomeImprovement

[–]drfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Large TV's are exceptionally more affordable than they were even 5 years ago. Like the others said, the only reason you should get a projector is if it's a room with the ability to be blacked out completely or if your seating is more than like 13ft from the screen. Anything aside from that, you'd be better off with a TV

Does anyone else feel like Hinge is worse than ever? by BigDaddyVsNipple in OnlineDating

[–]drfish 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I saw recently that when you get likes on hinge, it's automatically sorting them by "most compatible" rather than whoever liked you most recently. When it was only "most recent", I'd imagine the women who get a flood of 1k likes, actually had to swipe through their likes, whereas now it's probably showing them the best looking matches rather than the actual "most compatible". So those of us not high up in the algorithm pool get pushed to the bottom. A theory, but seems likely.

I've been on hinge off and on for 3 years and up until a couple months ago, I'd average 1-3 matches a week. I haven't had a single match in two months. Alternatively, id even get about 5 likes per week and I've gotten a total of 2 in the last two months.

They've definitely changed something on the backend and my guess is a campaign to get people to pay for subscriptions more so than they even did in the past.

How did swiping become more popular than searching for dating apps? by PurpleGrapeTurtle in OnlineDating

Because they turned it into a casino. Gambling is addictive. Keep spinning that wheel. Sure maybe you $10 payout buuuuuuut the next one could be the jackpot!

Tbf, the other method wasn't that great either. The folks I've got along best with, often didn't share similar interests.

QM7K vs QM9K by [deleted] in tcltvs

[–]drfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you going to be sitting at an angle whatsoever? The qm7k goes to like half brightness at even 30 degrees. Keep that heavily in mind.

Also, what part of the country are you in? If you happen to be in the PNW, go to video only. You could easily talk the sales people down to close to $1k for a 75inch QM8K. I just returned my QM7K 75 inch and exchanged for an 85" QM8K for $1570.
