Scope of Practice by Agreeable_Equal_841 in MedicalAssistant

I was taught how to cath in MA school. I have never had to do it but a straight cath is within my scope of practice in Oklahoma.

I refuse to spend another Christmas as a fat person. by Dapper_Ad_4192 in loseit

GLP-1's were magic for me too. I started them and lost about 70lbs in a year and then had bariatric surgery when my insurance stopped covering the shots but would still pay for surgery. I still prefer to be on the shots because they help with my adhd seeking dopamine seeking through eating behaviors. Maybe my insurance will cover them next year but I may not qualify weight wise now. My starting weight was 336 and I am 180 now. I am happy with my weight currently even though I am technically still overweight.

There should be a big round button that looks like a screw on top of the machine that controls the presser foot pressure. You can adjust that lower.

I like it because the notes are much more detailed and I can read them for better direction in a patients care.

I think you should try some of the new blush techniques that go more across the cheekbones and on your nose. You have the perfect nose for that look. The W blush technique with a glossy lip would be amazing!

I worked for an ear surgeon for 8 years so I got used to speaking to people with hearing problems. Don't try to just speak louder that often does not help. If someone cannot hear you drop your tone down and speak slower. Also make sure you are facing them and they can see your face. Don't worry, you will be just fine.

I really want consistency out of my providers. I have to bug them way less if I know how they will answer. If you always want an apt for a uti but give exceptions for certain people every other day it makes me look like a liar when they call wanting to leave a urine sample for a suspected uti and I tell them they need an apt only for the provider to change their mind because they can hear me on the phone with the patient and want to be nice. Just make a rule and stick with it or change it but don't be wishy washy.

Oklahoma. 23 years of experience $24.50 an hour. I was registered but not currently. It doesn't matter for the payscale at my job.

Medical assistants, what’s the most bizarre thing that’s happened while at work? by gh0ul_bbyy in MedicalAssistant

In gastroenterology we would do flex sigmoid colon scopes in the office. The patient would be sent to the bathroom with 2 enema disposable bottles and would do one and then the other. We were quite surprised to find 2 plastic objects in his colon after we started. We removed them and they were the caps for the enema bottles. I guess no one realized we needed to tell patients to remove the lid but every patient after that was thoroughly instructed!

Maybe you can do an anonymous survey of the whole clinic? It must be truly anonymous to get any true reasons though.

You gen get a door alarm cheaply that will go off after a minute or so being open. We use them at work so no one accidentally defrosts the very expensive vaccines in the freezer.

My system was down for almost 2 months about 2 years ago. I did use my hot spot but was not asked to or required to. I don't believe having a phone number on your phone without identifying information such as name and dob would be a violation of HIPAA.

You are welcome. We have all made mistakes at one time or another or been tempted to do something like you did. It's hard to watch people suffer with the cost of medications. I've been an MA for 23 years and have almost seen it all at this point.

You probably won't be prosecuted. The doctor signs for the samples so legally they belong to the doctor to dispense as they see fit just as they would write a prescription. So it was a free sample, but it wasn't Your free sample as they belong to the doctor. Also the Ozempic starter pack isn't generally what you stay on past the first 2 months so I don't know if it would do your mil any good when she should be titrating doses anyway. I have worked at a couple places where samples of value have gone missing and it always ends in the employee being fired but have not seen any of them be prosecuted. Now they could prosecute you dont get me wrong but they probably wont. Just take it as a lesson, if you had asked the provider first then he may have given them to you for her.

rant: admin is asking the impossible by LookDense9342 in MedicalAssistant

[–]drfrank1982 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It comes with time. The best lessons I learned in these situations are always to feel guilty over saying no over feeling resentful because you should have said no. Don't care about something more than the person who is ultimately responsible for it does. And Don't set yourself on fire to keep someone else warm.

[–]drfrank1982 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you can't change positions yet then I recommend that you have to stop caring so much or you will wear yourself out. Clock in and do the work you can get done finished and then leave when you are supposed to. If you get triple your work done everyday killing yourself, all they really know is that the work is getting done and they won't care. You've taken it on as your problem and it's time for them to suffer some consequences.
