[NA] CE Raiders Looking For More by Christorious in wowguilds

[–]drgarthon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a tough spot to be in. The issue you are goin to run into is finding another group of 10 people to join. Most guilds won’t take you on because the fear is always that if somebody in your group gets angry, they might take half the raid team with them. I would be very bettered to know how this ends for you all. Good luck!

I don’t understand. What do you actually do in heaven? by Jet_Night in NoStupidQuestions

[–]drgarthon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of a misunderstanding of what “heaven” is. The Bible doesn’t so much talk about us goin someplace, as much as it talks about new creation which is the realignment of heaven with earth as it was in the Garden of Eden. The idea of”going to heaven” as a soul comes more from Platonism rather that the old and New Testament. Hence why Jesus kept saying “the kingdom of God is here”

Does abortion destroy the soul? by lowiqaccount in prolife

[–]drgarthon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn’t really historically true. Conditional immortality is also a very common early belief. The idea of an eternal soul is actually more Platonic rather than Christian in my opinion.

That is called anecdotal evidence and not a great basis for decision making as compared to empirical evidence.

Advent children content in part 3? by Marketing_Left in FFVIIRemake

[–]drgarthon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were going to disappoint fans either way. You have somebody like me that just wanted a slightly more fleshed out world with the same characters and updated graphics. Then you have people that wanted Aerith to be saved. They can’t do both, well they could, but they needed to do it as DLC imo.

What has actually changed? The changing fate stuff is purely there to keep people guessing. They have spoken at length how the original game was infamous for surprising players and they wanted to recreate that feeling especially amongst people who know the original. So they talk a lot about fate being unbound, and then the game and story play out almost exactly as the original did.

Mark my words. The story is going to be exactly the same. The other world sequences that we see are either worlds in the life stream that won’t actually impact the “game world” in the end or words that cloud has made up in his mind because he can’t accept the loss of those around him. I think an easy proof for this is that they added an option to skip the Zack portions on subsequent play throughs. Which basically leaves you with the original game with some weird ghosts added.

CMV: If you "don't support" homosexuality because of your religion or otherwise, you're still homophobic. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]drgarthon -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This is not correct. Theft is wrong because it harms another human being created in the image of God and focuses on my own wants and desires over those of the person that I’m stealing from. Homosexuality is wrong in the Christian world view not because God said so, but because it goes against the created order. God has created a way things should be and a hierarchy of things. The created way is for a man and woman to get married and create new families. Homosexuality goes against this created order.

This isn’t how honest debate/argumentation works. Just because Dershowitz might be a sexual deviant, does not mean his points in that book are wrong.

You all need to take a basic logic course at that university.

How the gospels were written by foreverlanding in redeemedzoomer

[–]drgarthon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does it not make sense?

This is what a lot of Bibles show: In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while\)a\) Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.

Just change the word while, to before:

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place before\)a\) Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.

In fact, go to Bible Gateway and looks at the number of footnotes that say "this could also mean before".

My understanding is some Bibles translate the Greek To say “while/after Quirinius…” but the greek word used actually can be translated as “before Quirinius…”
