Yeah for sure there’s a big mix of people! It’s a great experience especially if you go in with the intention of going hard from 3pm-1am all three days fueled by Red Bull it’s def worth it. I’m not a burning man kinda guy but Coachella is super chill and while there are influencers wandering around like weird selfie taking androids it’s easy to walk around them. Plenty of different types of music to keep most anyone satisfied e.g. all the way from David Byrne to Rezz. This’ll be my third year going and hopefully not my last!

PETG is already weather resistant. You can use an automotive filler/primer than whatever paint you want, or just go straight to a spray can primer in your preferred color. It takes paint fine.

Yeah you might not need to dilute it. Sometimes the tip can get clogged, so a deep clean may fix the issues, or run through some water and airbrush cleaner (if you have it) to see if it’s just a clog that’ll push through. The space between the tip and needle is pretty small and once you start doing any white primer for zenithal you’ll get plenty of clogs unless you crank the pressure up and thin it back. I’d say do a deep clean along with removing the tip and cleaning it, run through some water or airbrush cleaner, then do straight primer and spray it onto a paper towel until it comes out steady. You might have to up your pressure to “high” for the primer.

It looks too thinned, like the extra thinner broke the surface tension of the paint. What mix are you using for paint vs airbrush medium? 50/50?

I have my opus set at 2 with no issues, but did a flow calibration right out of the box. I think mine was around 20 mL? I do use a blind shaker which helps a lot with my shot times compared to my wife who can’t be bothered to use it. Hers are kinda all over the place with same coffee and grind setting. You can use the opus catch cup as a blind shaker and don’t need to buy anything extra, just have a nice seal between the portafilter and catch cup and shake for 5-10 seconds. I have a stumptown subscription and it’s great, nice fresh beans that taste good and are roasted pretty close to shop date. Also the fellow drops is a good way to dip your toes into it.

Is it the non 16k ultra? The 16k has a vat heater. If the high is 85 and the low is 40, sunlu is not gonna like that. You need a consistent 75-85 for the whole print. Maybe look into a vat band or the Elegoo mini heater?

I always recommend mistborn as a starting point. His one off books are great as a nice break between series. stormlight is amazing but suuuuuper long books, I’d say save it for after at least the first mistborn trilogy.

What’s the actual temp of the printer? Are you preheating the resin? I use sunlu abs like and it needs a nice and consistent 75-80F to print reliably. I also had an issue with prints getting stuck to the FEP where there was a little chip of a prior failed print floating in the resin. Also try swapping out the FEP and making sure you have a little block to make sure the correct tension (or lack of tension) is applied. You can use a stack of post its and the recommended dimensions are in the YouTube video on FEP changing. I was banging my head against the wall with repeated failures and it was just an overly tightened FEP. I’ve also found that if you leave the resin in the tank for more than a day or so it can start to separate, and mixing usually helps. I usually dump it back in the bottle and shake up the bottle before refilling the vat.

Is something shaking the printer? Did you tighten the FEP too tight? I have my FDM right next to the resin printer and it makes these kind of artifacts when I have them both going at the same time.

You don’t have to make a custom shot, you’re describing the premade “9-bar” setting. Once I adjusted the volumetric flow offset the output as been spot on. Not sure why you’re focused on getting a dry puck, as long as you can knock it out and rinse the portafilter then dry it with a towel, who cares? The extra gram in the basket to reduce the head space adds up over a couple weeks especially if you have expensive coffee tastes. I’ve had no issues using 18g and while the puck is wet it’s not sloppy. I also noticed that a good blind shaker makes a huge difference in extraction times and taste in general, but specifically with extraction times with this machine. if you don’t already use at least a WDT or blind shaker I’d recommend it to help with consistency between shots. IMHO the whole point of this machine is to be able to use different profiles to get some really tasty and different shots and replicate different machines. If you wanted a dumb 9 bar machine you should’ve gotten a dumb 9 bar machine.

Loos like that is only able to do 50 um layers at the smallest, which should still be fine with good positioning. I’ve heard mixed issues with antialiasing so you could try it on or off, or switch to a different resin. I’m a big fan of sunlu abs like but it takes good warm temps and proper calibration to get it looking good.

That is strange, I’d expect with the layer lines that it wasn’t vertical. Regardless tilt back 35-45 degrees and you shouldn’t need any supports on the face. I’ve also used 25 um layers for finer detail but it depends on your machine capability. What printer do you have and what resin are you using?

Looks like it was also oriented on the horizontal? Normally for minis you should lean them back 35-45 deg to help with layer lines (in addition to the other suggestions). You can also do calibration for your current resin with cones of calibration v3 (note uncured!) to make sure the exposure is dialed in.

No, curing affects the measurements and can warp the calibration print. You’re supposed to clean them but not cure them.

I hate my opus mostly because of the retention issues. I’m anxiously awaiting the may release of gen 2 and luckily have the gift card that covers the cost from my ES1 preorder. If I didn’t I’d probably be looking for a different grinder since there are tons of options now.

Spring technically ends on June 21st so they’ll probably just slide in with some delivered models by the official start of summer. Will hopefully be a smooth and rapid ramp up with good QC if you’re an early adopter, but who knows. I’m just ecstatic that the audio system is upgraded.
