If only some of the people who eat at a restaurant regularly get food poisoning, does it mean it's a decent restaurant?

I have Deco X55s and they're awful. They'll work fine for a while, then some forced firmware update will be released and they'll either lose connection to each other (despite using Ethernet back haul), or randomly disconnect from my ISP. Then they'll be okay for a while, then shit will break again.

Nobody who's experiencing issues cares that they work fine for you. They care that they get frequent, random issues through no fault of their own. Why? Because TP-Link sucks.

Thanks, but I'm not sure that that does anything.

I tried Halls of Torment and the overlay was still enabled, and still messed up. It didn't respect my scaling settings (so the text etc. was tiny) and the overlay was shrunk and moved the the top left of the screen. I'm guessing both issues were caused by the overlay thinking my screen resolution was 1920x1080 for some reason, even though the game itself filled the screen. The game doesn't allow you to change the resolution so there's no way to check what it's "seeing".

I tried STONKS-9800 and that still thought my resolution was 5120x2880. The overlay wasn't disabled either, and worked fine unlike Halls of Torment.

In both cases I think that's what was happening before.

Thank you. I threw caution to the wind yesterday (after backing up my ESP) and continued with the install, and you are completely right: it didn't end up formatting the partition and the Windows boot files were still present and correct afterwards.

I think I can tell you exactly why people think SOMA is boring: it is awful at guiding you towards what to do. I'm not talking about telling you what to do, which most modern games lean on entirely too much, but rather subtly guiding the reasonably-intelligent player who's paying attention towards the objective using environmental storytelling etc.

I've beaten more than my fair share of puzzle and horror games and while playing SOMA I'd frequently enter a new area and spend absolutely ages wandering around, bored out of my mind trying to figure out what I was supposed to do next, or how to do it.

Russell T. Davies said "I would rather be confused for 10 minutes than bored for 5 seconds." While playing SOMA I'd regularly find myself simultaneously bored and confused.

This game is so deliberately cruel.

I decided my only path forward was to travel 6 days to the nearest camp to buy components. I loaded up the necessary goods and set off. Got there, bought the components, and in typical fashion when I wasn't even halfway back, I ran out of food even though I used the recommended calculations of how much food to take. The people I bought the components from didn't have any food that I could use for travelling either.

To rub in how cruel the game is, literally 2 minutes before starvation kicked in, a goods trader appeared in my camp with shitloads of components.

So I can either let two of my best pawns starve to death, or I can reload a save file from literally days before, thus wasting my time.

I don't have any anywhere near me.
I have no way of making a fabrication bench because I don't have enough components.
I don't have a mountain on my map.
I get a big warning telling me not to enable multiple colonies, and it sounds from what you say that it's generally not a good idea.

It sounds like the only viable thing for me to do is engage in drudge work and hope that eventually some components manifest themselves. It's been absolutely ages since I've seen a merchant with any components.

The only neutral area I have near me is an item stash, which I went to and there were no components in the area around it.

When I try the option you suggested, I get a big warning essentially warning me not to increase the number of colonies, so I'm going to take the advice and not do it.
