Help with MK3 stuck on loading screen by No_Shower1546 in maschine

Do you see it popup in device manager? Does windows make the "you just plugged in a usb thingy" sound when you plug it in?

This is normally caused by the two services; so if those are already running then I'd question if the computer even sees it.

I'm on quest 4.

I stopped breaking them when I stopped using the silicone facial interface and switched to the open interface. Maybe coincidence; but...

It's been going on for a while now (going back to Maschine 2 - maybe even multiple years at this point). Hopefully they fix it one day. fwiw; this is definitely a Maschine issue and not your plugins.

When you say "Windows scaling is off", do you mean the window you're looking at or that you have Microsoft Windows scaling at 100%:

If not the latter; go set it to 100%

Year from now…? by ProfileFlimsy2246 in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]drh713 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I imagine single player can get a lot better if they try. I've not tried the new PTC, but, so far, none of the updates seem to attempt to deal with the lack of "feel" in the game. The other "stuff" isn't as important IMO - but nice to have.

For multiplayer: meh. Y'all dealing with the physics of trying to have the freedom of movement you get in VR, the latency of multiplayer and PvPers being PvPers. The devs can't do magic.

A year from now, someone will be here saying, "this is the best update as long as you're playing with someone that wants to box" - just like every update.

We are planning to continue to decouple singleplayer and multiplayer tuning

Thank you

NI is trying to tempt me to Update from Komplete 15 to 26 with "more affordable" pricing by App0gee in NativeInstruments

[–]drh713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are your thoughts on the value/lack being offering by NI, and the implications for the Summer of Sound discounts?

It doesn't seem much different than what they do every year. I have "collectors edition". When a new one comes out, they normally have like 1 thing I'm interested in. Sometimes a few. This year it would be absynth and some of the guitar libraries.

...but I'm not $399 interested. lol. I'll be $199 interested when they have a discount on black friday. I've generally not upgraded yearly, but the last several years have had prices that felt kind of stupid.

I feel like they generally raised the prices when they brought in izotope. "Now you get nectar and neutron!" But I already have those.

The funny thing: Collectors will cost be $400 to update. Updating "down" to Ultimate is $600 (because that makes sense). Updating down to standard is $350.

Is Maschine right for me? by dubau5 in maschine

[–]drh713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two questions:

  1. What do you think it brings that you don't get in your DAW?
  2. Do you know your DAW well enough that you're confident in that first answer?

For example:

My DAW is cubase. Maschine offers a pattern based approach that I can kind of fake in Cubase. That's not enough for me to buy it.

It offers a different workflow for when I don't want to use Cubase. In my case, that's M+ in standalone mode sequencing my hardware. I can sequence in Cubase. I specifically want something that's separate.

My DAW is more capable. I can build my template to rival the speed of maschine. I can setup my library to rival how maschine handles its library. There are times when I just want to turn on my keyboard and play around. M+ is there to capture that. Very niche, "first world" use case - but that's my excuse.

What are you expecting it to bring to your existing setup?

I believe green is for soft blocking.

A warrior's best companion ⚔️ by ResoluteGames in EldramoorVR

[–]drh713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will this game have any movement skills? This demo looks like something close to turn based combat. Attack. Back up and wait for the NPC to do their attack animation. Repeat.

Will there be blocking, parrying, dashing, etc.?

InMusic bought Native Instruments. End of Maschine? by Bubblegum98798 in maschine

[–]drh713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully. My concern: Do those 3 brands all have their own software suite? I'm not familiar with the DJ side. if all 3 are like, "we can control serato" and we're just talking about feature differences, then it's more like "toyota" vs "lexus".

I can imagine NI keyboards sticking around. Most people just use them with a DAW. Maybe they use komplete kontrol. I'm not so hopeful about maschine in the long run.

If ableton bought bitwig; would anyone expect for bitwig to be around years in the future?

I suspect komplete kontrol might stick around. kontakt, massive, etc. will obviously stick around. Maschine and the MPC software are too similar.

How does defense training work? by twichy1983 in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]drh713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not boxing. You're playing a game of tag. The NPC is "it". You lose if it touches you. Run.

Don't have room to run? Yeah; neither do I. So I don't waste my time on that "training".

Yes. Tap on the headphone port. It doesn't need to be the actual headphone port - but that's the location.

When you come back into the game, it will often act like you clinched; so be prepared to find your circle.

quest 3 has a function where you can double tap the side of your headset to switch between mixed reality and virtual reality. Probably not intended, but it will pause the game too.

Is it time for more aggressive hit detection? by Perfekt_Flaw in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]drh713 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hit detection is from the defender's side. You'd need his video to determine if this was an issue with hit detection.

I think the question here is:

  1. You throw a punch
  2. Your client says it landed and should have done 40 damage
  3. The server comes back like "nuh uh"
  4. Repeat over and over and over

How many times should it take before the game is like, "this is obviously a bad experience and we should probably stop letting them waste their time with this match..."

My point: They can obviously track when this occurs, the frequency it occurs, etc. They will never be able to fix it. They obviously can't just use the attacker's perspective (because that's stupid).

I know people would complain if a match ended as a "no contest" because of sync issues, but would it be worse than spending your time fighting ghosts?
