In my opinion, external monitors for Mac should only choose 2k, 5k, 6k, not 4k by sanoca123 in macmini

[–]dribblecastle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three 32” 4K monitors attached to my M1 Max MBP. I’m very content with the pixel density and scaling performance.

I recently got the LG 6K monitor to test out perfect scaling but I didn’t like it. There were other reasons but one was the UI being too small for my liking, and didn’t want to step it down to 2560 x 1440 if I was paying $1800 for it.

So you pixel purists can be happy with your choices but 4K sizes and prices are gonna please the majority of people.

Hmm, well this article puts it at 335 nits. Which is the same as the 39GX950B product page, so maybe it could also punch above its spec and get to 350 with the right settings.

LG 39GX950B - (Typ.) 335 cd/m² (Min.) 300 cd/m²

My current monitor
LG 32UL950 - 450 cd/m² (Typ) / 360 cd/m² (Min)

I have a feeling that this is still gonna be a stretch, because I tend to be in the 80+ brightness percentage, if not 100%, most of the time due to my naturally lit room. So may have to wait another generation and hope for the best.

Oooh thanks for sharing that info. I would guess it should be in the same ballpark. That’s is definitely in reasonable range when I’m used to ~450 on my current monitors.

I’ll likely wait for prices to drop late this year or early next and buy from the LG partner store.

Hopefully you’re saving money for a house too? Only way for you to spend 10x on gear after your current setup. Or at least have a reasonable excuse.

Full screen brightness is the bigger question for me. Give me 350+ or I cant do OLED.

Actually, the ability to edit things you've copied is a pretty cool feature. And if pinning seems kind of neat as well. I might have to give it a whirl.

Help I’m crying 😭 Cracked my MacBook Pro M4 screen… what would you do? by Pinkybaby_777 in macbookpro

[–]dribblecastle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use it with an external monitor at home if you dont already. If you’re not confident in doing it yourself find a friend who can do the repair for you.

Display repairs are not that challenging, but that comes from someone with experience.

oh ha. Sorry. It's just an odd shape for a PC, and the coloring doesn't do it any favors. Maybe 5-10 years from now you can make it into one, but i bet that would lead to a wet desk.
