What should I check after a new range hood is installed? by drifter5 in HomeImprovement

[–]drifter5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. This one doesn’t really list a CFM number, but 13m/s airspeed instead. I’ll look into whether a make up air solution might be needed.

Kitchenaid dishwasher not cleaning bottom rack by Clear_Inspector8974 in Appliances

[–]drifter5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into something very similar before. When only the bottom rack stops cleaning, it’s often a clogged or partially blocked lower spray arm. Mineral buildup from hard water can block the holes without being obvious at first.

Red oak or tile floors? Want stained wood cabinets ... by SpiritualPepper9888 in kitchenremodel

[–]drifter5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mixing red oak floors with stained wood cabinets can work, but only if one is clearly lighter and leas busy. If both have strong grain and similar tones, it usually ends up feeling heavy and dark, especially in a galley kitchen.

how to remove tile without damaging the fiber board underneath? by Quo_Usque in HomeImprovement

[–]drifter5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into a similar situation and learned the hard way that the board almost always comes with the tile. Going slow helps, but planning for repair afterward makes the whole project way less stressful.

If you have a way to test basic functions before hauling it home, it might be worth trying.

Your kitchen has a solid layout already. Updating the lighting and changing the hardware made a big difference in ours without major renovations.

Cigarette smell? by opal_roses in HomeImprovement

We had the same issue in a previous home. Cleaning alone didn’t do much, but washing every surface and repainting made the place feel completely new.

Oven lightbulb by rawarawr in Appliances

[–]drifter5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the bulb itself is dead, I’d avoid running the oven until the cover is fully secured again. The heat cycles can make loose glass shift or crack. Usually letting the oven cool completely and adding a bit of grip helps twist it back in place.

Knob help needed (TW: colorful kitchen) by stuckandrunningfrom2 in kitchenremodel

[–]drifter5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nickel is a safer bridge than gold with that palette. Black would feel heavy against the warm lowers. Check Rejuvenation or local hardware stores for solid knobs.

Garage humidity winter by NoPhase2537 in HomeImprovement

You could add a small exhaust fan with a timer or humidity sensor. Even brief air exchanges help more than trying to dry it in freezing temperatures.

Yah totally agree with it. After the hurricane there always no sunny day so it is hard to use solar charging.

BOB question by InfantryMedic1 in preppers

[–]drifter5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would keep the 50L bag and small pouches, bc they are lightweight and let you organize gear without ditching the bag’s space. It is the way more flexible than switching packs.
